Not sure what inspired this to be brought up again. The Lynx were putting up press debating whether they would accept an invite to the White House, and it was less than enthusiastic. Knowing Trump, you know he’s not going to take a chance of getting publicly rejected, especially if you’re putting out that kind of press.

They are apparently going to discuss it more in a moment.

Christine Brennen is on CNN saying it is a shame as women sports are loved right now, -can we have some of that love at our games. Saying title 9 is most important decision. Says it is mind boggling that they have not been invited. Quotes Reeves saying she would have gone if invited.

Based on the Clemson visit, they're missing out on "hamberders" and other great American food.

Why haven't you become Lynx GM and signed her yet?

She must not be making herself available for the WNBA. Somebody would have signed her by now.

Johannes made three 3s in the 1st Half against Team USA at the 2016 Olympics. That got people's attention. We talked about her at the time. Marine was supposedly making the switch to PG so she could take over for Dumerc as the future PG for France. Obviously, that didn't work out since Epoupa and others handled the point in last year's World Cup. However, Johannes continues to be a good shooter and it looks like she put on some muscle. Being skinny was a major knock on her in 2016. For what it's worth (7 games), Marine had a decent but not especially noteworthy 2018 tournament (24 mpg, 10.6 ppg 40%/32.6%/92.3%, 3.3 apg). I'm sure teams know about her. Either she's not interested or the teams aren't. Recently, the Mystics signed Kim Mesdagh, who is a similar type player but 5 years older.

Minnesota Lynx to host Chinese National Team in special preseason scrimmage

Quote:
Fans of the Minnesota Lynx will be able to see a special scrimmage as the team prepares for the upcoming WNBA season. The franchise announced Monday morning that the Chinese Women’s Basketball National Team will come to town for a game on Wednesday, May 15th. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT for the scrimmage, which is only open to Lynx season-ticket holders according to the team.

This is not the first time a WNBA squad has played against the Chinese National Team as preparation for the regular season. The Las Vegas Aces welcomed the team to town for their first-ever game in Las Vegas in 2018; the Aces won the preseason match-up 98-63. Shao Ting, who played in two preseason games with the Lynx in 2017, led Team China with 22 points in the game.

Very cool.

Maya Moore - arguably one of the best female ballers in the WNBA to date

If ever a sentence didn't need the word "arguably" !

(or "female")

Yeah the word female is also not necessary when you say in the wnba after it Laughing

Unless of course we have some Qanon on here, then you never know what they think a WNBA player is, it could be some conspiracy.

I have been thinking about Maya and her decision. Maya is a very private person who has never seemed to embrace having to speak in public or be the center of public attention where the audience wants to hear from you. Her mother also moved to CT like Stokes when she came to UConn, so obviously she is very close. The increasing social media attention may be a reason that she has decided to live her life the way she wants to without that constant attention. Just a thought, which could be wrong and we will see if she changes course and returns.

This isn't directed at you but to the detractors. Maya is a grown woman who has lived almost all of her entire life playing basketball. She's given a lot to the game and fans. Whatever she wants to do, she owes it to herself to be happy. That's not for anyone to question.

Agree 100% and I didn’t take it that way as I am a huge Mata fan and I am sad that we will not get to watch her play. Plus she needs to live her life and no one else’s.

Quote:
HOWARD MEGDAL: You made your first WNBA three last season, and I know it is a focus for you and the team in 2019. What's that process like, and what goal do you have for yourself beyond the arc?

DANIELLE ROBINSON: I did make my first three-pointer last year and it felt good to do so. It was still an uncomfortable shot at the time I made it because I was never asked to shoot it until I got to Minnesota.

In five seasons played (she missed 2016 due to injury) with San Antonio and one season in Phoenix, she was never asked to shoot the three?

I am not sure how confident I am in the veracity of her assertion...

ETA: Robinson took a combined 33 shots from three in her five seasons with SA and one season with PHX. She did not make any of them.
