Today is the day that Gary Clark, Jr. releases his 3rd album entitled, "This Land." So many industry plants are in the music business today that it's hard to stomach. He is one of the young talents that should be (IMO) recognized. I couldn't wait to go straight to Itunes and support "Real Talent."

I already have two standouts on the album (The Guitar Man and Dirty Dishes Blues - this song should have BB King smiling down from Heaven.).

Who are you currently listening to whether it be old or current artist?

Oh, and I'm still listening to his last album, "The Story of Sonny Boy Slim."

Not so much a specific singer or group, rather songs that were backed by the Wrecking Crew. Sessions musicians that were on records from

"The unit coalesced in the early 1960s as the de facto house band for Phil Spector and helped realize his Wall of Sound production style.[2] They subsequently became the most requested session musicians in Los Angeles, playing behind many popular recording artists such as Jan & Dean, Sonny & Cher, the Mamas & the Papas, the 5th Dimension, Frank Sinatra, and Nancy Sinatra. The musicians were sometimes used as "ghost players" on recordings credited to rock groups, such as the Byrds' debut rendition of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" (1965), the first two albums by the Monkees, and the Beach Boys' 1966 album Pet Sounds." - Wiki

The drummer, Hall Blaine, banged the drums on about 40 #1 songs, and I believe about 150 top 10 and over 300 top 40 songs.

Carol Kaye started by playing guitar for Ritchie Valens on LaBamba.

One of the guitarists gave a young Phil Spector guitar lessons and was the start of his career producing the Teddy Bears, Ronettes and others.

Many groups were actually on the road performing concerts while these musicans were laying the tracks for the actual albums.

Well I got mrs jammer making me replay the Lady Gaga Bradley Cooper duet from the Oscars about three times a day.

There is an oldies station in LA on the AM dial out of Beverly Hills of all places. It plays pretty much a crap load of primarily two things. Motown and Wrecking Crew hits. Somebody has a serious connection to session player royalties. But that stuff sounds so good on AM and we listen to that a lot right now.

Back to Gaga. So now that the world has come to embrace her and there's this new awareness and acceptance that she IS without a doubt one of the greatest talents we've ever seen... I've gone back to some of the earlier performances wherein I was saying she's one of the greatest talents, etc. And people would say shit like, "Lady Gaga? Who is this no-talent fraud?" That's not exactly what they would say either. Cleaning it up a little.

So NOW, uh, I wanted to go back and watch a few things that I used to really love. I think MT was the first one to post this here and turn me onto it. But it might have been you, G.

So NOW... uh... I'm going to say that this IS the most remarkable performance of an immensely gifted vocalist singing such a deeply felt character defining song that I've ever seen. And even if she hadn't wrote it. It's still the greatest piece of singing I've ever seen.

And the irony of it all is the backstory of this visit to Howard Stern's show. He had been one of those people to brush her off as just another record company product who annoyingly danced and sang big hit records. BUT... he actually said something like why doesn't someone just shoot her. Shocked

So Lady Gaga reminds me of my late friend Sheri and she did what Sheri would have done and kind of did do many times in her life. She went right to that person and won them over completely until they worshipped her. I don't have that temperament and very few people have that kind of talent. But Lady Gaga melted Howard Stern and his audience.

You know this is a person, she's what? 5'2"? You could drop her into the rowdiest frontier saloon in the old west 150 years ago and if there was a piano there she would own the place, singing her OWN songs, within five minutes of opening her mouth.

I just wish she'd stop injecting fillers and stuff into her face. But that's another subject.
