Why has no one considered the coaching change as a factor in Grays decision ? Agler brought her out of her shell and made her an All star PG ijs. Laughing
I considered it, but I believer she loves LA more than she does the coach. Angller did trade for her, but he did not make her an all star. She always had the talent, but just needed a chance. Her Last coach was a methodical control freak under whom Gray would never have been allowed to fulfill her ceiling.. The one area she while in LA was her physical condition. She had everything else and getting in physical shape was just the last piece. Her biggest asset was always between her ears.

I suspect the signed Sims to a 3 year deal because they made an under the table deal with her last season for her to take a cut in order to get under the cap.

As I’ve said many times before, I suspect they just gave her the whole lump sum of the team off season bonus, which works to be around max.

They had to match PHX’s offer to Sims in order to keep her, so the Sparks really wanted to keep her.

They are just keeping their word.

This isn’t the WNBA fan fiction thread.

Now the do have a new coach and who knows what type of player he values, but Sims can not handle the point full time. Neither can Parker.

Two part-timers add up to a full-timer.

Parker is a half court two man game point but she does not see the entire floor, when she is focused on her own shot.

Working on that three point shot of hers?

willtalk wrote:
Sims was able to play the point in college but the WNBA has exposed her weaknesses. She has a peripheral vision problem which is more evident on defense, but it surely affects her on offense as well.

Never heard this one before. She wouldn’t have to get too fancy. Just get the ball to Cambage, or get the ball to Parker do she can get the ball to Cambage.

willtalk wrote:
Perhaps they are working out the same sort of deal with Gray that the did with Sims last season and are just waiting to see how much she will need to leave on the table.

If Sims got the off season bonus lump sum last year like I suspect, Gray can’t get the same deal since she’s currently playing overseas.

willtalk wrote:
I agree with those that believe that they can not afford to have Sims play the point exclusively.

Like I said, Boyd isn’t signed either. Do you like her better? This isn’t about making the Sparks perfect. It’s about examining if they are a better team with Cambage at the cost of a certain unsigned starter.

willtalk wrote:
Of course they could go back to Parker sharing the point as well.

Now you’re talking....

willtalk wrote:
But Parker is too inconsistent and does not play well back to back.

They might be a different team with Cambage. Look at it from that perspective. I have a feeling Parker wants Cambage on the team. She wants another ring NOW, and can they be assured of another ring with the same old roster, except with a thinned out bench (no Carson) and a great new coach?

willtalk wrote:
Of the big three I think the most expendable would be Parker, but after her it would be Nneka.

Sure, let’s just rid the team of all the MVP’s. Might just work.

willtalk wrote:
Parker was always good at feeding Nneka and their is no reason she couldn't be even more successful with Cambage.

Now you’re back to thinking again.

willtalk wrote:
Why think that they have not signed Gray because she is part of the proposed trade ?- well to trade her you have to sign her. You can not trade her if she is not under contract.

Usually the signing and trading happen at the same time. Sign and trade.

willtalk wrote:
If she knew she was going to be traded she might just chose to sign with a different team of her own choice.

She’s restricted, but maybe Dallas is a team of her liking. Maybe Agler is a coach of her liking. He seemed to believe in her when others didn’t believe in her. Her significant other supposedly is from Texas. There might be enough maybe’s in Dallas’ favor.

willtalk wrote:
It might be that they have not signed her because they know she will sign with them so there is no need to hurry.

That must be it. You guys can feel all better now. Whew.

willtalk wrote:
Maybe she wants a no trade clause. If I were her that is what I would ask for.

I don’t think you can legally write that in, but the players don’t make enough that they aren’t willing to invoke their own no-trade clause. But I think sitting out could tank her overseas value. Is is worth sitting out to try and stay with a team that’s willing to trade you?

willtalk wrote:
She is happy in LA.

It’s La-La Land. She has to be happy.

willtalk wrote:
Then again Fisher might be an idiot and believe that Sims can handle the point.

Him and Parker probably reviewed Cambage’s last season and is thinking, you know what, I think Sims might be able to handle it. 🤔

willtalk wrote:
They guy has never coached before so who knows what he thinks or might do.

It’s ultimately Toler’s decision, but now I’m nervous again. Why do you do this to me? You got me on this roller coaster of emotions.

If they do let Gray go, it will probable be because Parker wants to be more ball dominate this coming season. With Gray in the line up she couldn't justify handling the ball as much. With Sims she can. It will go back to the type of offense they ran when Toliver was the point.

Laughing Nice cheap shot. Parker has absolutely nothing to do with why gray has not resigned .
