Sources have confirmed that the NY/Chicago trade is out as a potential landing spot for Liz Cambage. The two teams who remain in the mix have continued to strengthen their offers. |
|
The only trade I can come up with for NY/Chi?Dallas is
Nurse and #2 to Chicago
Deshields and #4 to Dallas
Camabge to NY
and even then I feel like Dallas might just take Nurse and #2, but I am thinking back to Deshields wanting to go to Dallas last draft so maybe that would be in the mix. From a NY fan point of view I like Cambage enough to consider that move Charles and Cambage would be a great front court and you can probably fill some holes with free agency that you would have been filling with the draft pick but if Liz decide not to show after 19 watching the #2 pick and Nurse develop in Chicago would be hard pill to swallow. |
The only place Cambage wants to go is LA, that has always been her choice. Maybe her return to Dallas with a job well done was to open the door for her to go to LA. Time will tell where she ends up!

League sources confirm to @WNBAinsidr that Crystal Robinson will be hired as an assistant coach on Brian Agler’s staff with the Dallas Wings.
Robinson spent 2018 as an assistant with the Seattle Storm and is a 9 year WNBA vet.

WNBA09,
I'm going to give Greg and Brian three more weeks before, I rip them a new one....that's more than enough time for them to prove to us they pretend to give a shit about their fan base!!!
I wish we could get rid of Greg, but now that he bought a minority stake in the team, I'm afraid we are stuck with him for the foreseeable future😒

Agler will find a PG to fill in for Diggins. But if the Cambage trade doesn't work out and she sits, they'll have:
PG: free agent/Davis
SG: Gray/Hill
SF: Thornton/#5 pick?
PF: Johnson/Stevens
C: Plaisance/George
Pretty sad looking team and as of right now are competing with New York for the 2020 #1 pick.

I guess nobody has the patience to wait until they see what comes of the free agency and draft before making such a determination.

With Dallas no longer having a dominant low post presence, I would definitely select Collier over Samuelson. Collier is more versatile on offense, a better overall defender and a stronger rebounder. Collier can post, drive and shot the mid-range jump shot. Samuelson is just a shooter. I would've taken Samuelson over Collier had Cambage not demanded a trade because it made the most sense. Dallas needed a shooter to complement Cambage/Diggins...but at this point, Dallas needs to select the best available player, they need to increase their talent level.

There’s a good chance that Dallas will get LA’s first rd pk in the Cambage deal. So we could end up having the #5,#7 & #17 pks in the draft.
My wish list(Realistic picks):
#5-Brown,Young, Collier,Magbebor,Anigwe,Ogunbowale (In that order)
#17-Martin,Turner,Xu Han or Kea (In that order)

If they get Vadeeva in the trade and take Brown, that solidifies them upfront. They take best available at #7(Samuelson, Ogunbowale or Jackie Young). Then a PG at #17.
PG: TBD/#17 pick
SG: #7 pick/Davis/Hill
SF: Gray/Thornton
PF: Johnson/Stevens/Plaisance
C: Brown/Vadeeva

I think Dallas should hold off for CGray + #7 at a minimum.... maybe get Lavender thrown in there. Maybe the rights of some foreign players Agler may like: Tolo, Dabovic, etc.
That could explain why a CGray signing announcement is being delayed.
The Boyd signing delay could be tied up in this somehow. She could either go to DAL or LAS depending on who needs a PG. Boyd might like returning to California. What LAS gives up for Boyd, I’m not sure. I don’t think it’d have to be anything that great. Maybe it’s Lavender going to NYL to play for fellow OSU alumna.
Sure, Sparks fans will be upset to see Gray go, but look what you could be getting in return.... Cambage making a commitment to show up to the Sparks. That’s huge. So huge I’d rather not see it happen.

Gray getting traded makes Sims their starting PG. Agler drafted Vadeeva, so that's why I keep throwing her in the trade. I think if Ionescu enters, Dallas trades for Jefferson and gives Vegas the #5 or #7 pick.

Didn't we see Collier in some USA games? I don't remember how she did, but think she didn't look really out of place either. I think they'll be a learning curve for her. She needs to focus more on her outside shot, which seems to have slipped since last year. And she needs to get 'trickier' on her inside execution since even now you can see her get 'stuffed' by bigger players. But there is also a lot to like about her game.
