Dream never matched the Lynx offer for Dantas. She's officially a member of the Lynx.

Only question left is how much did they overpay her to make sure Atlanta didn't match.

Probably close to the max. 90k? Wasn't seeing Atlanta match to have her sit on the end of the bench behind Billings and Imani.

I thought people understood that ATL had reached the maximum amount of guaranteed contracts allowed and couldn’t take on another one. Probably just gave her a fair price with the desirable guaranteed contract and ATL couldn’t do anything about it. They gave Dantas only $60,000 last season. How would $90,000 sound? Is a 50% raise fair enough?

Sigh... So this was today's big signing?!?!? Pretty lame free agency. The most exciting move has been Essence Carson to Phoenix. I guess the big Cambage trade, if and when it happens, will be the big move this off-season.

Today is boring. Then again, today is also the one-year anniversary of the announcement of the Storm acquiring guaranteed Finals appearances and the right to become the greatest dynasty in WNBA history from Minnesota for only 2nd round pick. Mad

Will you ever get over it? It was clearly a bad decision, but Howard's play with the Lynx really didn't give the impression that she was the one missing piece for the Storm. She ended up being Most Improved, and Reeve couldn't have predicted that. And while she made all the difference for the Storm, the Lynx had bigger problems last season than missing Howard. Maybe the Storm wouldn't have won without her, but the Lynx surely wouldn't have won with her.

Pondexter tweeted that she wants to play for an organization for the next 2-3 years. I thought she was done after this season assuming someone signs her?

Seems like the above are the only players left that are a.) Available and b.) of some usefulness (albeit limited). I left out players who are likely to sign with their own teams (e.g. Brunson, Beard) if they play at all. It is not an exciting group. Some of the reserved players or RFA's might be available, but that would take either a trade or an offer the home team couldn't match which seems unlikely.

I struggle to see why anyone who watched her play last season would want her for this year, never mind the next 2-3. And if you're bringing in the fading superstar they better be able to help you win immediately, or you're just introducing someone who's used to getting to play but might not deserve it. It takes a certain personality to accept a smaller role when you used to be The Star, and I'm not convinced Cappie's got that.

At least her whining about it on Twitter suggests Indiana probably haven't asked her back. That never made much sense in the first place, when the minutes could've been going to someone you hope becomes the next Cappie Pondexter.

I think any past team she's been on doesn't want her back. Or any of her previous coaches. That rules out Los Angeles, Phoenix, Chicago, New York, Indiana & Dallas. Connecticut, Atlanta, Seattle & Vegas have no need for her. Basically leaves her with Minnesota & Washington. If Washington brings back Currie, the Mystics are out. And I wonder if Minnesota would have the cap space if Brunson plays?

She does sound like a Cheryl Reeves type player but probably only for one season at a time. What do they to lose?

Taking her up to having played for half the teams in the league, if she makes the roster. Nice that she gets to be injured and not play in another new city.

If she's healthy, it's a good signing. Otherwise I felt she was done after her failed appearance with Minnesota last season.

Umm, not really a Reeve type player. Reeve claims to have a no-knuckleheads policy. Who has been a bigger knucklehead ever since she was discontent in PHX? She had a spot on the Sparks roster until she complained about not getting enough minutes. Who wants to deal with that?

As of now, the Lynx have 5 draft picks in a deep draft. They might as well use them to add new blood to the team. There’s decent guards to chose from in the second round.

I agree - it is only a training comp contract so the risk is low. She is playing less than 20 MPG in Poland. You would think she would play more minutes - so it is unclear whether that is matter of health or the team has a better player in front of her.
