I can't find the article yet but have pieced some together from twitter. The top 5 this week are Notre Dame, Baylor, UCONN, Louisville and Oregon. Utah at 21 is ranked for the first time in a decade.

And wow - Marquette moves up to another new program record 10th and that's the highest ranking for a BE Women's team since realignment. I'm not sure they should really be ranked that high but it is fun to see and it keeps them ahead of their Men's team who moved up to 12 this week Smile.

What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here? Utah is ranked 21 (first time since 2008) and Tennessee is out of the top 25.

Thanks for the link.

And that's right - DePaul's return to the top 25 was short lived after they lost to Seton Hall at home.

Utah has played the soft part of the conference schedule (not to mention a soft non-conference). They're in for a rude awakening as soon as they face the Oregons, the Bay area schools and the LA schools.

Massey projects them to lose 4.8 games, more than anyone else in the top 20.

Meanwhile the Tennessee men are #1. Clearly we've been sucked into the mirror universe.

Go Pac12

We will take the 21st best team in the country right now. A lot can and will change by next Monday.

yeah, both Utah and NC State have greatly benefited from playing the weak part of their conference schedules early.

That is a dilemma created by the people that
control the Pac-12 network. They are the ones that control what media companies can show their games. Rolling Eyes I would love to watch Pac-12 games but cannot do it because it's unavailable to me.

If someone actually watched that double overtime loss to a very good Arizona St. team would recognize that a loss like that combined with the types of losses of the teams around them would not qualify them for a big drop. In fact it made
logical sense that they moved up past Maryland. They played a good game, but Arizona just played just a bit better. Arizona has come very close to beating Baylor, Lue, Stanford and Oregon so it was inevitable that they would finally beat a team rated higher than them.

there is no explanation that a losing team moves UP instead of going down or even staying the same except that these AP ratings are brought to us by people that don''t follow west coast teams at all.
.they must be voting blind.....

or perhaps now its just style points instead of actual WINS or LOSSES....

Losing to Michigan St (without other big wins to make up for it, because I know Oregon lost to Michigan St previously) must be considered a worse sin than barely losing to Arizona St.
Pollsters are still blind though. Ever since Big Ten play started Minnesota looks like the worst P5 team in the country, and they're still getting votes from some people. 😭

Folks, this is HIGHLY a subjective process....no need to take it as a slight to your team. After #1-7 or so, it's a lotta conjecture. There are undoubtedly a good number of journalists who DO do their homework, but a lot are just given the task and muddle through. Pretty much the same with the coaches' poll.

The problem is that there are so many teams in the middle losing games they shouldn't lose, it's a bit like Charlie says - there just aren't enough good teams to replace them all.

But in general, I believe all these pollsters look at last week's poll, then make minor adjustments, so it's really unusual for a team like Rutgers to come out of 'nowhere' to get ranked.

Utah could go 0-4 in the next 4 games vs 3 Top 20 teams and lose to a top 30 team, are they expected to win all four of those games? But today they are one of the best 21 in the country, I'll celebrate top 21 for now. Go Utes!

No other top 20 team is scheduled to lose 4.8 games? Utah is not in Top 20. How many teams have played 4 Top 30 teams in a week and won all 4.]

I was citing Massey stats, thought it would be obvious I was referring to the Massey rating - which is 15th.

I think there were no other better teams to take that spot opened up by Maryland if you look at the teams behind Oregon State. Maybe Texas? Not sure though.

I pay for Sling TV to get the Pac-12 Network. I used to get it from DirecTV. Now, I know its not on enough platforms but it is available if you want it and if you like watching Pac-12 games.

I have P12 as part of my Dish sports package - along with a bunch of other Fox Sports channels which show other conferences.

Well, it will be interesting to see what happens to the top 10 this week. How far will ND fall? If the pollsters decide to weigh ND's SOS more heavily, they might only fall to 5th place. If they want to weigh the last loss, to a 9 loss UNC team, more, then they could go down as far as #8.
