Which Oklahoma will show up tonight--the ones who lost to UConn by 9 pts, or the ones that lost to K-State by 30? Shocked

Texas is very fortunate that they got Danni Williams

Oklahoma young kids are pretty entertaining. If they can avoid the transfer illness, they will be a good team in the coming years.

I'm sick of hearing about how Holmes is a guard. It reminds me of Mary Murphy going on about Candace Parker being a PG.

Where is Odimbe? She's the only OK player with height. Texas' height just waaay too much for the Sooners.

Oklahoma has had so many opportunities...

I'm back to my original thesis that Texas is really not THAT good. And Joyner Holmes in particular is not THAT good.

Well, I didn't get to see the game, but it appears OK at least had a good first quarter! Laughing And if ya take out the 2nd quarter, TX only beat OK by 1! Shocked Either one of the teams OVER-performed, or UNDER-performed. Or both. Laughing

Yeah, Ije Odigmbe does not get any real playing time. Can't figure that one out. Holmes at least got a bunch o' rebounds, but yeah, I don't think she's living up to the promise she showed in her freshman year.

Re: size and the future....Sherri's recruited a pg that's all of FIVE FEET TALL. Shocked

I kinda like the Freshman PG now ....heizer (or somethng like that). Did she recruit any bigs? You need some bigs to compete.

Tatum Veitenheimer is a really good pg, for a freshman. Not dazzling, but showed well even under pressure vs. UConn.

But yeah, Coale's incoming class is a 6' wing and a 5' pg (#76 and #87 espn top 100) and a 6'3" unranked player. Not impressed, m'self.

By the way....if you saw the game, did you see any reason Pellington didn't play much? And Llanusa hardly played, either. Both capable of high-scoring. Shocked

Holmes' lack of development has been a major disappointment.

Llanusa was in foul trouble the whole game. She got two right away, sat out until well into the second quarter, came in and immediately got #3. Then in the third quarter got #4 right away so sat out a bunch more. A couple of them were pretty dumb. Not sure about Pellington. She looked ok but a bit out of control.

She tends to just bulldoze into the lane so a team with good scout should draw several O fouls on her without too much trouble. But really troubling was that she couldn't seem to finish any kind of short range shot other than wide open layup. Also Texas played the pick and roll to good effect over and over. One would think an opponent would be able to prevent that after a time or two.

When you see players as freshman, you project what they can be, using the raw talent you see and assuming a progression based on coaching and the kid's own ambition/drive/commitment.

Joyner Holmes had POY potential, imo. However, she had some sort of issue which caused her dismissal from the team-that was a red flag. Also, I don't know if the Texas coaching staff has proven to be above average.

Another player I thought would be much better by now is Turner. I don't watch every ND game, but the next time I see her shoot a jump shot, or shoot beyond 6 ft, will be the first. She's v.g at what she does, but her game never expanded.

Of course, I will defer to the ND experts here, should they disagree. Wink
