Sophie is a dirty player in the now-famous Pingeton-Mizzou style. She picked up where Jordan Frericks left off. And Lauren Aldrich's clapping in Holly's face was inexcusable and should have gotten an unsportsmanlike conduct call for taunting. |
The announcers definitely though Aldridge was clapping to taunt Warlick and from the looks of it, Warlick thought it was taunting as well.
Tennessee has Kentucky coming in next. Talk about change of styles. Old play an aggressive pressing team in Auburb and the a team that slows you down in Mizzou and then back to a pressing team in Kentucky who forced 24 TOS from Mississippi State.

Am I the only one who enjoys when a player doesn’t behave like a Victorian lady entertaining guests in the drawing room?
I like the fire. I like the dirty. |

Sophie loves to play the heel, if pro basketball doesn't work out, Vince McMahon could find a role for her. |

For all the hoopla over SC's elbow the LV's and their fans forgot that Kushkituah, fighting for a rebound threw an elbow that was raised above her shoulder. It missed but the message was clear. The refs looked at it and did nothing, likely because there was no contact.
I find it hilarious that LV fans are wailing about overly physical play. How many times have we heard Pat at halftime telling her players that they needed to fight. That the way to victory was in winning the battles under the glass. Am I the only one who remembers watching Kelly Caine body slam an opponent and then straddle her prone body and scream like a crazed animal right into the face of the poor player lying at her feet. Or how about Glory Johnson throwing an elbow into the face of an opponent and then walking to her bench with a huge smile to receiver high 5's from her team mates and cheers from the crowd. For many many years the secret to the LV's success was physical intimidation in the paint.
If Cunningham had played for Pat she would have been one of her favorites, and by extension a fan favorite.

Though likely not super excited teammates in A'ja, Nared and Harrison.

If they're not having to play against her, they may love having her in the trenches.

Some pretty deep beef with South Carolina and Missouri last season that went way beyond physical play.

It goes way back past Cunningham. She's just the latest iteration.

It might be because I can't stand her, but I just don't see her at the next level.
Who can she guard in the WNBA?

You can kinda say the same thing about almost every rookie in the discussion for the W. Who is KLS gonna guard? And people have her going as high as #1. Collier has trouble guarding one on one outside and is too small to guard inside. I'm not sure about Asia or Arike. Ionescu is going to struggle defensively. Most of the bigs we're talking about will also struggle, especially initially. Kalani Brown looks a bit soft. McCowan will not be able to camp in the key. Now I guess you can say that you can't see Cunningham ever improving enough to play defense whereas some of these other players may get better.
