Hey Wings, it is already December 1st down here. Would you like me to call him on your behalf?

It'd be very cool if the Wings front office did the NBA Free Agency thing of being on his doorstep at 12.01am in whatever region the contract applies. It's like when Washington hired Thibault - if you're looking for a new head coach and one of the best happens to become available, go hire them immediately. |
The Wings are the only team w/o a coach now. Not much of a market now for coaches. (BTW - suppose the Sparks will hire Amber Stock, Fred Williams, or Vicki Johnson?) |
isnt' Texas Agler's offseason home? He should give the Wings a call.
whomever gets hired in LA, better be ready to manage some egos. i think Agler did a great job in that.

This is the second time in five years that Agler left a team mid-contract... |
If it was his choice. I have a feeling losing by 32 points to the Mystics in a playoff game caused some discussion between Magic Johnson and Penny Toler, and they probably talked to the players. The idea that the players were sick of Agler's very-short-bench coaching style is very plausible. |
It was Agler that resigned - he had a multi-year deal. I suppose it could have had a team or coach option, Voepel at least pretty much made it sound like it was his idea to quit. If the Sparks wanted him out, seems like they would have just announced he was getting canned. |
He could have resigned on his own. But allowing a person to resign is a courtesy they will often offer higher level workers. Although maybe coaches (even those only two years removed from a title) aren't high enough to get that courtesy. I may be wrong in comparing him to people like Laurel Richie, who resigned from the WNBA to "pursue her other interests serving as a board member of several for-profit and not-for-profit institutions and continuing to be an advocate for girls and young women.” It seems like she could have easily done that as president of the WNBA, so I suspect that she did not voluntarily resign.
Edit: In looking for his resignation statement and finding this, it does seem that he did it on his own, likely with the Wings job in mind.

Agler said he resigned on Nov. 1, as he was required by contract to give the team 30 days' notice. However, the team didn't officially make the announcement until Friday morning. He is the only coach to have led two different franchises to the WNBA title.

Than,
I spoke to my source, who is in upper-management yesterday, and asked if he'd heard any rumors of Aglar coming to Dallas, and he could not confirm anything. He said for whatever reason, Greg Bibb has been totally silent about which direction he wants to go with the vacant coach position, even with senior management....He said they are just as anxious to know as the rest of us!!!

Him and Magic are good friends, so I'll lean towards him, but he was a terrible coach in the NBA.

All I will add is that Jerry West has a ghost of a chance of getting hired.

Some Twitter reports are saying Agler was in Dallas today, possibly to interview for the head coaching spot. Anyone got any other details on this?
