It doesn't have to be his choice. Magic Johnson may have high standards that were not met by a sixth place finish and getting blown out by the Mystics (96-64) in the second "round" of the playoffs.

Maybe Parker or Beard want to become the coach... dun dun dahhhhh.
I’m sure Parker thinks she can be a good coach.

Could just be that CP3 wears out coaches. She's played 11 WNBA seasons and had six different coaches.

She has had 4 coaches in 11 years if you only count head coaches and exclude interim coaches that finish out a season.

1) Michael Cooper ( voluntarily left Sparks to be head coach of USC )
2) Jennifer Gillom (fired 10 games into second season [4-6, 13-21 first season])
3) Carol Ross (fired 22 games into the season [10-12, after 24-10, 24-10])
4) Agler

"I just think that sometimes, it's just time," Agler told espnW on Friday. "It's probably best for everybody involved. I really enjoyed my four seasons I was there. The team, they're great players and tremendous people. Strong and good ownership. Really good front office. I can only say positive things.

Great players, good owners, good front offices. So why is he leaving? His feet are saying something different.

Indeed!

*Le sigh* Crying or Very sad

What on earth is going on?! Honestly, it makes me worry....about the Sparks...about the league...We shall see what's next! Shucks, the season is already starting off crazy and we're 6 months away! Laughing

It's quite interesting that they waited to announce. Perhaps they already have a candidate.... Whoever it is, LA CANNOT afford a retread coach!

Oy vey!

Agler to Dallas does seem more likely if he wants to still coach in the W.

My hunch is that Magic gave Agler the treatment reserved for newbies like Luke Walton (Dave Roberts seems to have been spared thus far), and Agler wasn't having it.

"I can only say positive things." Probably because that's what he agreed to do on his way out the door.

Isn't/wasn't Agler's son an AC with the Sparks too?

Perfect candidate. Experience as a HC, former AC with the Sparks. Lacked success with the Sky, but maybe her shortcoming was as a GM. Sparks won't need her to do that job.

you've got to be kidding!

oh, but of course you're a Dream fan. I get it.

I fully expect them to hire a coach from the men's side.

This sounds right to me. If Magic (or anyone in management) tried to tell Agler 'how to', I think he would walk away.

Agler lost all the starters, they were not enjoying it. He ran them into the ground as he only plays a small rotation.

I don't think it was necessarily that, but he probably wanted to be in control as GM also. I heard that there were moves he wanted Penny to make that she didnt. Either way I hope LA gets a good replacement.

This is the second time in five years that Agler left a team mid-contract...

I guess his contracts must of give him option to leave whenever he likes.

If it was his choice. I have a feeling losing by 32 points to the Mystics in a playoff game caused some discussion between Magic Johnson and Penny Toler, and they probably talked to the players. The idea that the players were sick of Agler's very-short-bench coaching style is very plausible.

It is probably just a matter of time until Lisa Leslie is 'seriously considering' the opening for Sparks Coach.

It was Agler that resigned - he had a multi-year deal. I suppose it could have had a team or coach option, Voepel at least pretty much made it sound like it was his idea to quit. If the Sparks wanted him out, seems like they would have just announced he was getting canned.
