This game was originally supposed to be at Marquette but has been moved to UWM. This is due to the car crashing into the Al McGuire Center and ending up on the basketball court early Saturday morning. MU needs more time to get the Al ready for NCAA Volleyball games this weekend.

There’s a nice Marquette contingent tonight and Marquette is making themselves right at home at UW-Milwaukee. They lead 25-13 after the first quarter.

This game ended up way closer than it should have been but I guess the important thing is Marquette got the win - 83-74.

Two long-time individual program records were broken in this game - Allazia Blockton became the all-time leader in field goals at MU breaking a record set by a player who graduated in 1983. She is now 49 points away from the all-time scoring record at MU of 1940 points set by Krystal Ellis in 2009. Blockton is on track to become the first Men's or Women's player at MU to score 2,000 career points.

Natisha Hiedeman became the all-time leader in three pointers made at MU breaking Lori Goerlitz's record (class of 1995).

Marquette gets to return to their home court the Al McGuire Center on Sunday to face Michigan after two games away from there after the car accident. This begins the tough stretch of non-conference games for them - at Miss. State 12/6, at Northwestern 12/9, vs. UWGB 12/15 and vs. Notre Dame 12/22 (there's also a home game in there 12/17 vs. Binghamton). MU is going to have to play a lot better during that stretch of games than they did tonight if they want to pick up some key wins.

Wow. I'm surprised. But I guess a lot of the big guys like Chones or Lucas or Ellis didn't stick around 4 years or played when freshmen were ineligible. But still, not even Dean Meminger, or Butch Lee or Doc Rivers? Congratulations to Blockton. Heck of an achievement.

Butch Lee is #5, Dean the Dream Meminger is #13 and Doc Rivers is #32. Jerel McNeal is the Men's all-time leading scorer with 1,985 points - he broke George Thompson's record of 1,773 points which had stood for 41 years. Lazar Hayward who graduated in 2010 sits in second on MU's scoring list and Thompson is now third.

On the Women's side for MU, I've always been impressed with Kristen Maskala's 1745 career points which currently has her in 5th place all-time. She only played three years at MU as she transferred after one year at DePaul. If she'd played at MU all 4 years, Blockton would have much farther to go now to become the all-time leading scorer at MU Smile. Coach Carolyn Kieger currently sits at 17th on the scoring list at MU and is set to be passed soon by senior Erika Davenport (Blockton and Hiedeman are already ahead of her). Kieger is still the program's all-time leader in assists though with 694 and no one on the team now tops 400 assists so that record is safe for now for her Smile.
