110-38 MSU final
McCowan 23 pts (10-12), 6 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl, 5 blk in only 19 min
Espinoza-Hunter 16 pts (6-9, 4-6 3P), 3 ast, 1 blk in 20 min
Danberry is intriguing me more and more. Not only is she one of the better defensive guards, she also facilitates. Seven assists in this game. McCowan probably helps make it easier.

AEH - it is amazing what a change in venue can do for ones confidence.

Hopefully she can stay confident against better competition.

The change is she could not even do that against vastly inferior teams last year which Coppin State admittedly is.

Hard to take anything serious away from a game like this. It's like a senior high team playing against 7th graders. Gee, wonder why they look so good!

T Mac played 19 minutes and put big numbers (against subpar competition as already noted). She also put up 4 fouls. That's a few games this season against especially inferior opponents where she's been in foul trouble. I don't remember that being the case last year with the exception of maybe the South Carolina game.

The Championship game. Her having to sit down because of foul trouble was central to ND's comeback from the huge hole they had dug. Until then she had been playing essentially every minute of every previous tournament game. When she went out ND was finally able to successfully take the ball to the rim and they took full advantage.

She also has a ton of blocks already. A lot of refs will call a block a foul. Hard to speculate on such a whimsical small sample size hypothesis. It probably boils down to the refs more than a statement like “she’s fouling more this year”.
