Love the new logo by the way. Their old one was the worst logo in the league. Now, it’s much better.

You’re the author, right? I hate when articles say “according to multiple sources”. Can you name or at least give a hint to your most solid source?

WNBA09,
I said the same thing to a friend of mine! Everything Greg Bibb does takes an eternity to either act on or even realize something different needs to happen!!! Why would you wait until after the college season has already started before you bring someone in who's responsible for leading your franchise among other things that take time to get up to speed in a new organization, new city, etc.?

I do know they are active in searching , just haven't heard the candidates for sure. Will try and find some type of information over the weekend hopefully. Off seasons around here are pretty dead and most are not even in town .

The Sky with a real coach could be trouble.

It's the same as every other time someone hires an assistant though: Who the hell knows? You might get Curt Miller or you might get Amber Stocks. You might get year one of Nicki Collen or you might get year one of Katie Smith. You make the most educated guess that you can and then hope for the best.
I'm a little surprised that Alter and the Sky basically dipped back into the same pool they got their last head coach from. Usually when something didn't work teams actively look to try something different, but they've essentially just looked along the league's benches again and picked another one out. Maybe the retread options and anything outside the box were all so unappealing that this was what they were left with. |

Coaching is a crapshoot, as one owner said

There's such a big difference between being a successful assistant and being a successful head coach ...
And of course, someone could be qualified to be a successful head coach but get a job with a team that has no talent, or a collection of knuckleheads, and not look good.
Finally, experience matters, so sometimes the lessons learned in failing the first time around result in someone primed to succeed if they get a second chance.

Both those teams have been on the struggle bus until this year. Can we have some documentation?

Both teams?
No owner ever "struggled to get it right" as much as Glen Taylor, the super rich owner of the Lynx. Only 2 playoff appearances in 12 years is a league record for being on the "struggle bus". But he finally did get it right and he credits his eventual success to something Seth Sulka told him at the 2006 WNBA all-star game: "Be in the lottery six years in a row and hope there is at least 3 dispersal drafts in that period as well".

Taking a shot at Glen Taylor? What a surprise.
I just want to know which owner pilight was talking about because I disagree that it’s a crapshoot. Not sure why he’s being evasive about it.
I managed to eye Collen as a coaching candidate just by observing Sun games. Interviews would have cinched it. But I concede not a lot of people watch WNBA games and really pay attention.
I do think even the best coaches need more than two years to get things on the right track, so booting Stocks was ridiculous in my eyes unless there was some extenuating circumstances behind the scenes.

Sheila Johnson? No wonder you didn’t want to say anything. Sounds like she was making excuses for failure. This might be one thing rAf and I can agree on. She’s not a great owner. Not even sure what is her ownership level.

If our sources would go on record I would tell you who they are. All I will say is they are very reliable and with knowledge of the situation.
