Jackie young being jackie young filling up the stat sheet. Excited to See M.Vaughn comeback from ACL with 15 rebounds and 11 pts. She will be a major force. ND's low post game will be unstoppable with the depth at hand .

I don't think this is going to be a fun 8 days of practice leading up to the opener. Muffet was pissed about the lack of effort on defense.

So, #19 Marquette went and lost to D2 Grand Valley State. Whoops. They should drop right out of the top 25...

How does something like that happen?

You have to place at least some of the blame on the coach since this would seem to manifest a lack of preparation or discipline or both.

Unless you tell me that they we playing their freshmen or bench the entire game or otherwise doing some strange experimentation.

Hard to say looking at the boxscore. Two of the starters played 33+minutes apiece. The other starters ranged from 20 minutes to 28 minutes but also had 4, 5 fouls.

Grand Valley's 6'4" Post had 28 points, 6 boards; that could be a problem for Marquette. More of a problem was the fact that Marquetee forced 16 TOs but turned the ball over 18 times themselves and GV had 10 steals.

JMU stomped on D-2 Post University 95-44 today (11-4) in a rough and tumble game where everyone saw action except freshman Casey Irvine, who has her foot in a boot, redshirt junior Jackie Benitez, whose knee may not yet be up to snuff, and sophomore Breyenne Ballard, because ???

Duke rolled up a big first half lead and then played Alaska Anchorage virtually even in securing a 75-54 win

http://www.goduke.com/pdf9/5478683.pdf

The Devils starting line-up were all 6-0 and over with 6'0 Haley Gorecki securing a near triple double of 18 points, 10 boards and 7 turnovers. 6'1 Faith Suggs also started in the backcourt. 6'2 Leonna Odom had 17 points and 6 assists, while 6'5 Jade Williams added 17 points and 6 boards. True frosh 6'3 Onome Akinbode-James added a double double with 11 points, 11 boards.

Outside of Suggs, who played 14 minutes, the other starters had 30+ minutes. The two players who saw the most time off the bench were backup wings Jayda Adams and Rayah Craig. MiKayla Boykin did not play nor did Aussie frosh Miele Goodchild (she may still be representing one of the national teams down under).

It's one game against Vanguard, but Chrystin Williams is beyond the real deal. She is the most UCONN-ready freshman we've had since Maya and it's not even close. This team won't have trouble scoring. But we will get killed on the boards and defending the post is going to be an issue. We will see more zone from UCONN this year than I can remember. Nelson-Ododa has a lot of talent but she needs to be much stronger. She is very athletic and moves extremely well.
