Maybe they offered the best money, perks or perhaps it looks like a situation that wouldn't require much. For example, Hayes missed 5 games for her Azerbaijan NT several years ago, but that seems to have been the last of it. The Euro passport is what matters most, not which country it's from.

Jonquel Jones is apparently now Bosnian, by the way. Seems like a missed opportunity for bigger European nations like Spain if she was fishing around for a Euro passport. Might mean the occasional missed week of WNBA participation if Bosnia-Herzegovina can qualify for EuroBasket Women tournaments.

It's possible that other countries might have complained and tried to block it if it was a bigger country.

This is pretty disgraceful and completely indefensible by FIBA. Even worse than the Anton Gavel situation.

Are there any good places to find info on China's professional league?

Can't imagine why you might be looking for some Han-dy Li-nks for that this year...

Is there anything you are looking for above and beyond what our site would usually provide in terms of coverage? If you're looking for the schedule, so am I at this point.

Understandably, there's not much out there in English. The federation website usually recaps all games at the end of the day. Personally I look at the message board on Hupu every so often because the local fans are pretty good at linking up stuff from a variety of sources. I think some of the national sites like Sina have some coverage.

What the hell are the foreigner rules in Turkey again? Because the last Fener roster I saw had Plum, Hartley, Stokes and Vaughn all on it, plus Zandalasini, Sottana and Verameyenka if there are just 'non-Turkish' exclusions. Seems like they're gonna be forced into making choices for ELW games, never mind Turkish league ones.

Looks like Cukurova have lost some of their backing if that's their final roster, too. No DeShields, it looks like, and I'm not convinced Iagupova/Mestdagh/Ndour is enough to carry a team with ELW aspirations.

That's very strange as Diamond was just there 2 days ago eating dinner with Astou Ndour . Wonder what has happened since that time ?

If it was Gala, I'd say maybe actually getting paid was too much of a priority with her.

BTW ChasingRatDogmaSalade - in case you missed it the Aces were voted (by a landslide margin) the franchise most likely to get its' first WNBA Championship by RebKell fans in a recent poll.

I saw that, and of course, I voted that way in the poll.

Very Happy

Still got a ways to go though. Can't wait for season two.

If the eurobasket.com family of sites is your jam, they should put stuff up once the schedule is out. The federation just publically announced the teams today so hopefully this happens in the next few days.

cba.net.cn will have boxscores and standings if you need things fast than the eurobasket.com affiliate. We will also have articles after each day of games that link up all the boxscores.

Is there a reason that Kayla McBride is not listed in the 10/11 edition?

It appears that the Turkish rules are still 4 foreigners with 2 of them allowed to be non-Europeans and then 1 naturalized Turk, although we seem to be running out of those. Assuming no roster changes, Fenerbahce is at 7, which is fine in EuroLeague if Bria Hartley's French grandmother came through. You have to figure that Verameyenka is the proverbial first name on the team sheet in domestic games that matter, but it would make sense to rest her in easy wins. Do you choose all 3 Liberty players? In a no-Verameyenka situation, Zandalasini is an obvious choice. Do you then pick both posts for depth or go for two of the guards with your domestic guards being stronger than your domestic posts?

Ekaterinburg also has 7 foreigners right now, but that could jump to 8 if they use the spot that Jones vacates by being European, and they can also only field 4 in domestic league play. Hatay has 6 and it will be interesting to see if they break up their Ben Abdelkader-Snytsina-Paris core that they had last season. Johnson would obviously be the next pick, but if Alexis Jones can run their offense well, that would fill in the need that was created with them no longer using Australian point guards, and Gajic is certainly useful too, possibly giving Paris a few games off here and there.

Interestingly, Cukurova is at 6 even without DeShields. Assuming Naumenko is allowed to be benched domestically, she and Slonsjak are easy choices to be left out. Iagupova-Mestdagh-Ndour-Ervin is still pretty good for the Turkish league. I think it will come down to whether Iagupova can go on a magical run at the right time, which she is capable of, Hatay can keep their chemistry, or whether Fenerbahce can figure out a lineup by the end of the season.

Spoiler alert, but Nadezhda did enough in the second half to win by 2 and advance by 4. They seem pretty far off where they need to be to get back to being a playoff contender. They only fielded 3 foreigners with the 4th spot supposed to be filled by Erica Wheeler. It will be interesting to see how they set up their lineup because they could really use a 5th foreigner, although they do have good post depth.

Looks like Salvadores is a bench player for Sopron, which should be an even more interesting team since they added Zahui and Dupree.

I wonder if Hatar draws interest in the WNBA. She’s a giant.

Somebody ... I'm not gonna say who ... didn't hit update in Word Press when they made their final update to the document.

Thanks for the cba link.

I will see what I can learn after a rigorous scrubbing of the site by google translate.

Much obliged!

She's taller than Zahui's hair.

She’s listed at 208 cm, which works out to be a sliver below 6’10.

She's with Sopron in Hungary, which is the same team as last year. They will be in EuroLeague again and figure to win the title domestically. I guess we know which person is not reading my updates on the other site...

Sopron will be interesting as they will miss Milovanovic who is out for the year and Jovanovic, who will be injured for a while. Page was not herself last year, but they still found her minutes to be more useful than Hatar when it counted. Dubei and Salvadores had good preseasons so they could have a bit more reliable depth than last year once the big games come.

Also, eurobasket.com's starters for that game differ from the Hungarian federation's website.

awhom111, I was watching some of the 3x3 stuff from the Youth Olympics earlier today and was wondering how much crossover most countries have between the 3x3 teams they send to these things and their proper teams. Like, for example, were the four French girls I saw some of the top French basketball prospects in general, or just the best youngsters they've got playing 3x3?

Also, as a matter of interest, do they actually have different rules on physicality for 3x3, or is it just accepted that the refs let a lot of stuff go to keep the fast-paced action flowing?

Looking at the French team, it's not particularly strong. It usually depends on when the event falls in the calendar. With plenty of club conflicts, most countries sent nowhere near their best team, but a few sent some bright prospects who don't have as many club responsibilities yet. If there is no conflict with 5x5 youth national team play in summer, countries usually send their best available teams. I don't think that there are any full time 3x3 women's teams unlike the men's side.
