They're so much fun to watch. Especially Allemand.

You stated:

"I'm secretly hoping that Emma torches the United States after some

comments indicating that she's not in the same galaxy as some of these

American players. Bulletin board material. Perfect."

Emma had a great game, probably the best game she has ever or ever

will play.

So tell me LOUDMOUTH, what happened to Belgium?

You stated:

"Excellent plan! I like this plan! Go Australia/Spain! Avenge Belgium!"

And based on this statement, you sound like an anti-American POS.

And while you try to formulate a response, please do tell us who your

national team is. That way we can compare your national team's accomp-

lishments to Team USA in International Basketball at the junior and senior

levels.

Once it comes down to it, they only took three guards that Staley wants to play. Going to DT as the backup PG was part of what won the game in the third.

But yeah, I agree that they left it a little long to pull the key group and turn it over to the bench. Most of the 4th was garbage time.

This is a little much. There are plenty of members on this board who are international posters. This whole thing is not that deep.

Wow. Such hatred and vitrol in this post. I'm proud to be an American, but I have a tendency to root for the underdog. (See: South Dakota Coyotes). Belgium played an inspired game and exhibited confidence that was fantastic to watch. Keep in mind, that this is the first time Belgium has ever made it this far on the world stage. Perhaps I'm just a fan of a good game and I want to see some competition on the international level instead of the same old. This tournament has been fantastic on the storyline front as you had new powers potentially emerge. Nigeria and Senegal snatched some great wins on their way to an excellent tournament for the African continent. Traore (37 y.o.) was an great talisman for Senegal and it's a testament to her commitment to watch her team do the best they've ever done at a major tournament. China demonstrated that they have a bright future led by some youthful centers who showed some promise against the United States and others. Latvia had a player, Steimberger, who dropped 30 points against the mighty Americans. Liz Cambage has completely dominated as Australia has marched on. Spain bounced back from a heart wrenching defeat to Belgium to snatch a win away from Canada on the way to the semis.

What happened to Belgium is precisely what Myrtle said. They had more depth than Belgium which enabled them to win the game. Besides that, Diana Taurasi woke up and had an excellent game in the second half. Jewell Lloyd played some great defense and had a fine game of her own. While I do admire the American players and appreciate their innate ability, I'm tired of attitudes like yours which think that players like Aja Wilson are the second coming. There are excellent players overseas and just because you don't get to see their excellence firsthand doesn't detract from them.

I am a HARDCORE Team USA supporter. Team USA did not qualify for

the World Cup because we SUCK. I know we suck and I know why we

suck. I do not really care for France. But this non-soccer fan could clearly

see that they had the best TEAM. And they proved it. I always try to be

objective. But FIBA has a very bad habit of HYPING non-American play-

ers. Then you get these non-American "basketball" fans that are no more

than gutter snipes. Who dream & wish & hope for an American defeat.

Never mind that their national team has never won a damm thing on the

international stage. And in the end, its just pathetic.

Once again, I'm an American, and I will always applaud our team when they win. That doesn't mean that I can't root, root, root for the other team until the game is over. You, sir, are bordering on extreme xenophobia and just because I want to root for the excellence of other players from other nations doesn't make me any less American.

EVER.

Isn't this subjective based on what your opinion of what it means to be American? You could argue that James Madison as the writer of the United States Constitution laid the political framework of what it means to be American. You could argue that Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton shaped the birth of a nation along with John Adams. Abraham Lincoln preserved the Union during a time of turmoil. It could be thinkers such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and David Henry Thoreau at the forefront of American transcendentalism. Is that enough knowledge of American history for you?

The FIBA Blog claims that Team USA played a near "perfect" game.

Well, that's a damm lie. Because Team USA played like a 12 cylinder

engine firing on 9 cylinders at best. As long as we play OUR game, this

Team USA is UNBEATABLE. Our game means tight defense, our game

means 9 or less turnovers, our game means fastbreak basketball. When

Team USA imposes its will on the opponent, we win, every single time.

Who are you to define my American-ness? Oh, wait. A'ja Wilson's family member. I forgot.

I country dance and two step every weekend. I can play cornhole, drink mimosas, and talk about Stanford football. I do hereby declare that I'm American. Wait. Are you American? How can we be sure that you're American? Isn't there a test that you have to pass to prove your American-ness? This entire conversation is ridiculous.
