It's a deep draft. I was thinking a third rounder.

She's 6-9 (at least), built like a pterodactyl, 18 years old, and just went 10-15 for 20pts against that Team USA frontcourt. You go ahead and take Shiela B. Waived from Middle Nowheresville State at #16ish instead.

I agree 100%.

She does want to play in the WNBA.

Seeing the qualification round as follows:

Nigeria vs. Greece
France vs. Turkey
Japan vs. Senegal
China vs. Belgium

Possible quarterfinals
Canada vs. Japan
Australia vs. Belgium
Spain vs. Nigeria
USA vs. France

Considering there's apparently only been one win by an African team at Worlds before - Senegal, earlier today - it has to be considered at least a small one. Even though what's left of Turkey really aren't very good. After an incredibly messy first half that game was great fun as well, and the joy of the Nigerians and their fans was really sweet.

Couple of results today that have really messed up the expected order of things - plus France, Spain and the US all making hard work of pulling off their expected wins. It's all looking a little more tricky and complicated than might've been expected.

It's interesting how Han and Yueru Li keep switching places as the favored center out of China. Back in April, Dan Hughes was quoted as liking Li and she was getting most of the playing time. Even at this tournament, Li is still the starter. However, so far Han is getting more playing time and producing better results. That's been the case whenever I've seen them. Now, I wonder if Yueru Li can rally and get her draft stock back up. That way, we'll have two prospects to think about. Smile

Cambage is just playing at another level Shocked hitting midrrange jumper after jumper then mixes it up with a 3pointer or 2 Laughing

Showing everyone that she is the best center in the world..

If you want someone to battle inside and maybe be a rotation post or a 10th/11th woman next year, it's probably Li. If you want to swing for the fences on someone who could be a star in 5-10 years if things break right, it's Han.

Not that she was facing the world's greatest D, but that was still a very fun first half to watch.
It's struggletown for the Opals when she subs out though.

That 4 or 5 player bench rotation is not going to work. It will help to get O'Hea back to bring some stability but i dont like their posts of the bench at all. Bunton is just mweh and Smith is a trigger happy youngster. Abby Bishop and Batkovic would have been a lot better IMO

They'll shorten the bench when they need to. We have lots of evidence that Brondello certainly doesn't like playing more than 7 or maybe 8. God help them if Liz gets into foul trouble in a knock-out game, though.

Belgium 39-32 at the half in an entertaining game. Spain celebrated a little bit too early when they won against Japan Laughing

What a nice drawn up play. Your best shooter setting the backpick on Meesseman for the wide open layup with 1.1 sec Shocked Surprised Belgium wins 1st place Cool

So Belgium wins the group. Spain finishes 2nd? Japan third? Second round: Spain vs. Senegal & China vs. Japan.

I like the effort and the discipline that Canada plays with. If they were even five percent more talented, they could really be something.
