Is there any point to some of these preliminary squads that have been announced? Surely Spain are going to find room to add Ndour (and France for Miyem)? Not like Spain have a host of alternatives for that naturalised spot, or a clutch of top-tier posts blocking her way. |

Teams are starting to announce their final squads for the tournament. I'm sure that awhom111 will provide much more detailed lists including club teams etc., but I can at least offer a few links.
The Aussies put theirs out a couple of weeks ago, with Allen, Cambage, George, Mitchell, O'Hea and Talbot all making it. France released their final 12 yesterday, without retired Celine Dumerc at a major tournament for the first time in ages. Usual suspects like Gruda, Miyem and Ciak are there, along with former WNBA draftees like Tchatchouang and Ayayi (Lisa Berkani didn't make it). Good to see Australia building for the future and picking two young(er) forwards/posts to join this year's squad.
AUS looks to have a pretty solid squad. Will be curious to see if the Opals can return to medal form.

| Alanna Smith is a very interesting player. She has pretty good mobility and athleticism for someone 6-4. Alanna looks like a star at times -- scoring inside, shooting 3s, blocking shots -- but she gets into foul trouble and is a bit up and down. Smith is on the cusp of being a serious prospect, but we need to see Alanna improve her consistency this year.

No Bria Hartley for France though. She apparently realized that one of her grandmothers is French earlier this year. That will allow her to play as a European for Fenerbahce (Kelsey Plum and Kiah Stokes will be the two non-Europeans). That should pretty much be a fireable offense for an agent. Your clients should not be professionals for several years before finding out that they can get a piece of paper that will massively increase their value in the job market. |

Looking at the advance ESPN listings, it looks like all group play and the first round of playoffs will be on ESPN+. ESPNU lists one quarterfinal and one semifinals with the others on ESPN+. The final is currently listed for ESPN. |

Weird that after years of promise and growth in San Antonio while Canada blithely ignored her, Alexander finally makes a national team squad after the season where she's lost on the end of the bench for the worst team in the league. Taking both Hamblin and Alexander seems like a conscious effort to get bigger inside and maybe match up more directly with the size that some countries can throw at them.
They're gonna need to pull a pretty significant upset somewhere to get any further than the quarters, but it's not impossible. |

I don't think they've officially named the final 12, but I don't see her on the preliminary squad here: http://seleccionfemenina.feb.es/ (or in the recent boxscores). So probably not. |
