If were doing more out there trades how about
Lottery pick, Ch. Parker and Copper for N. Ogwumike?
(Assuming LA flames out in the playoffs and wants to get younger and mix things up)

If Chicago ends up with the 3rd pick,I would:
Offer the 3rd pick to Washington for Emma Meesseman
G-Sloot
G-Quigley
C-Dolson
F-Meesseman
F-DeShields
6-Gabby
7-Parker
8-Ndour
9-Copper
10-Coates
This team would definitely make some noise in the playoffs. |
I mean sure, you can offer it. That's about as far as you'll get though.

Chicago will be better off going for a trade for a RFA.
WNBA GMs do not trade high quality players under contract unless there is a personality conflict with someone on the team.

You could be right...but you could also be wrong. With Atkins now being #1 on the depth chart at SF.Playing Edd or Emma at SF is less of an option...Playing Edd/Emma at 4/5 is an option I think would work...but only Mike T knows what he's going to do.
If Mike T can trade L.Whalen...then he can also trade Meesseman.

As usual, wishful thinking trades are one team's junk/borderline/draft pick for proven player ...
I haven't looked at it closely, but trading Emma Meesseman for anything less than a top-shelf starter makes no sense at all. And you have a proven young player in Emma, and you'll trade her for a No. 3 pick who may or may not even be a starter?

Yes, Clayk. It's just your common Rebkell trade idea.
I will trade you the lint in my pocket for your ten gold coins.

Diamond DeShields is the real deal. Whatever problems she had in college or with USA Basketball were not visible this year with the Sky.
Not only did she play well, she got better throughout the course of the season, and if she continues on this path, she's an All-Star.
The Sky definitely made the right call on her ...
(Of course, you could view Gabby Williams as the third pick -- would you trade Emma for her?)

If Sanders comes back next year, and you don’t want to mess up the successful chemistry the Mystics stumbled onto this season, then Meesseman is probably coming off the bench. If she’s accepting of that role, I don’t see why it would be a problem. Quality bench play wins you championships. Losing a quality bench can dismantle a dynasty, as Reeve has done her best to demonstrate.

There are two reasons why I think Mike T would consider a Meesseman trade:
1.Edd/Emma wasn't a perfect fit last season. If i'm correct, the Mystics had a better record when one of the two did not play.
2.K.Toliver will be 32 year old at the start of next season.A.Durr being Toliver's understudy for 3-4 years then taking over as the SG wouldn't be a bad idea.Durr will be a legit 16-20 All-Star imo...Washington could also use some backcourt scoring off the bench.
That being said,I'd probably keep Emma and play Edd/Emma at the 4/5.
I never siad Mike T would okay a Meesseman for #3 pk trade...only that Chicago should make an inquire.

Chicago needs to be better defensively and they need to rebound a LOT better. Chicago does not need more players that cannot play great defense.

Overall the Sky are just a bad team, they need a starting power forward and center. I think Quigley should be moved to the bench in favor of Williams and Diamond, and Dolson could also be moved to a bench role at this point. I’m also not really sold on the idea of Parker being a starting power forward. |

WOW! Thought they'd give her another off-season at least.

The sky should add the Quality guard from Notre Dame, she should be best player available when they pick. |

It does seem like female coaches are given a way shorter window to achieve success than men coaches, some of which have been around forever.

The Chicago Sky has relieved Amber Stocks of her duties as general manager and head coach, the team announced today.
“The entire organization would like to thank Amber for the hard work and dedication that she has given to the Chicago Sky for the past two seasons,” said Sky President and CEO Adam Fox. “At this time, we felt a change was necessary for the 2019 season. We wish her nothing but the best in the future. Our search for a new coach will begin immediately.”
Stocks was named general manager and head coach of the Sky in December 2016, after serving as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Sparks. In her first year with Chicago, Stocks finished the 2017 regular season with a record of 12-22. The Sky recently completed its 2018 campaign with a 13-21 record. |

That's probably not the only outside factor that has such an effect

I wonder how DeShields will respond? That was her coach, the one person that believed in her. It’s really not fair!
