Yea that Tip is staying! Plus, she needs the money. According her Twitter, she's got a fine to pay for the elbow to the face of Brunson.

@tiphayes3
I’m sick of getting fined for everything. Making a play, wearing certain things...I’m broke i do not have time to get fined for a cross over!!!

I'd be happy to donate to a go fund me for that one. Brunson and Fowles must have been given a license to elbow that no one else ever got. The MN homers didn't even think the play was a flagrant.

Great news that Tip is staying with us for a while!!

Yes, the unmitigated gall of fining someone for elbowing an opponent in the face. How dare they.

The most questionable thing about that play was how they decided that Brunson committed a personal foul. Must've fouled the elbow with her nose.

I'm surprised they chose this one got a fine. Many of Syl's are much more fine-able IMO. Brunson was leaning way over, not like Hayes had her elbow way above her shoulders on a seek and destroy mission.

Any player that takes gofundme to pay fines should be suspended from the league. The idea of the fines is to deter your actions.

It's not a choice, or this one in particular - techs 1-3 are a $200 fine each, 4-6 are $400, 7 and onwards are $800.

The personal came from the arm around the midsection that Brunson gave Hayes. I think that was the initial whistle, not the inadvertent elbow. Brunson was crouched and leaning and that's how come the elbow made contact. It wasn't a high flailing one.

+1 she should have at least 7 + fines for the elbows this season alone. I cant recall if she has been called for even ONE.

I watched it back the other night - it was pretty high. And it was the classic Kurt Walker "someone's holding their face, I'm gonna blow my whistle and work this shit out once I see the video" call.

Spacejunkie came up with it and deserves all the credit. But I intend to use it until she retires.

McCoughtry Sidelined With Season Ending Injury

http://dream.wnba.com/news/mccoughtry-sidelined-with-season-ending-injury/

Quote:
Atlanta Dream forward Angel McCoughtry will miss the remainder of the 2018 WNBA season due to torn ligaments in her left knee, an injury suffered in the fourth quarter of the Dream’s game against the Las Vegas Aces Tuesday night.

Should we go ahead and start the 2019 thread now?

The way sports have gone the past year, this probably increases the Dream's odds of winning the title now. 😬 Or not.

Crying or Very sad Well it's too late to tank so we might as well go an try to win out. BTW - is it too late in the season to get an injury hardship replacement? Dantas has been out for weeks, so she may not be back either.

That sucks. Atlanta has never won, has poor attendance, no NBA-level-wealth owner, and no jersey deal. I was really hoping they would make a run at the title. And one less team to try and prevent the Lynx from getting another title.

Maybe the league gets a much preferred Storm-Sparks final.

Especially disappointing it was on a football block vs a basketball play.

Jefferson undercut her big time. It was an ugly, unnecessary play.

They happen more often when you engage in dirty play

I don't know; right about now I think, it'd be pretty 'nice' if it happened to you.

At this moment, I'm hoping that when the final history is written on the WNBA, from 2018 until whenever the league ends, I hope that the record books show that every team in the WNBA has won at least one championship except the Sun. May you eat, but never taste.

At minimum unnecessarily dangerous play on the legs not the ball.

Even so I don't want to see Jefferson injured and certainly wouldn't celebrate an injury to her or anyone else.

But you keep doing you - it's special.
