Here is another quote from Monty McCutcheon, head of NBA officiating:

"In our three leagues, we need to have one brand of officiating"

Watching the last few weeks with the administration of flagrant and technical foul calls I would say they are a far cry from that. There is a reasonable question as to whether the standard for flagrant fouls should be different in the women's game and that could be an interesting discussion. Hopefully Blauch can help, but I am skeptical.

It absolutely shouldn’t, but it certainly is.

I don't know Sue Blauch. But what I can say is having anyone be responsible for bringing more consistency and structure to officiating from a referee's perspective is an excellent idea. I think having a standard across professional leagues is also a positive aspiration. That's been a sticking point for me when comparing the WNBA to the NBA.

We'll see how it works out but credit where it's due for at least giving this a try. And it shows they're trying to make it better. That's realistically all you can ask for.

I wasn't that impressed with Sue Blauch's performance on the floor.
We'll see what she can do. The W's officiating is all over the place.
