Why? Edd scored 9 pts on 3-15 shooting last night. Parker has almost averaged a triple double this past week.

Agreed about Fowles being too high. If Cambage can continue to put up 30/15, she'll edge out Stewart for MVP. But right now it's a two woman race.

Not if Stewie is also putting up 30 pts. Its easy to forget that she also had back to back 30 pt games

Stewie is the most consistent candidate.

Good thing there's more to MVP voting than who was better in the latest week.

Parker has a better supporting cast....CP's also had her share of uninspired performances.

3-9 fg vs Wash
3-11 fg vs LV
3-7 fg vs Sea
4-9 fg vs Dal
3-11 fg vs Phoe

Why is the "this player has a better supporting cast" used to diminish players in terms of MVP voting?

1.LA can still win games without Candace(2-1)...Wash is 1-3 without EDD.

2.The Sparks can win 20-24 games with CP avg 15-17 ppg....Wash would be a lottery team if EDD avg 15-17 ppg.

3.Because Wash/LA are only separated by 1 game in the standings.

Not necessarily. If Delle Donne would set up her teammates as well as Parker, WAS wouldn’t need a higher ppg from her to win.

Sanders, Atkins, and Toliver have all been solid for WAS, so I won’t be buying the Delle Donne doesn’t have help argument.

Yeah,okay....Take EDD/Candace off their respective teams and let's see how many games they win.

G-Cloud
G-Toliver
C-Sanders
F-Hawkins
F-Atkins
6-Currie
7-TRP
8-Thomas

G-Gray
G-Sims
C-Lavender
F-Ogwumike
F-Beard
6-Carson
7-Vadeeva
8-Williams

Let's also keep in mind that Washington is only 1 game behind LA despite not having their 2nd best player(Meesseman)....Sea,Dal,Phoe,LA,MInn,and Atl all have their 2nd best player.

Why is Parker this high and getting higher every week?? The Sparks are sucking right now without Nneka and Beard.. And really underperforming this season IMO on both ends of the court.
At the beginning of the season they were winning when they only had Nneka as a post so no Parker shouldnt be 4th in the MVP ranking..

Because Parker....and the Ogwumikes, are the darlings of this league. I'm surprised Chiney isn't #3.

How is Hayes #3? She should be #3 behind Stewart and Cambage.

Parker has been putting up almost a triple double in these losses , shes giving everything she's got while playing injured. She deserves her spot in my opinion.

Is Cambage really going to get MVP votes - even the 2nds and 3rds that would get her a high finish - when her team is currently under .500 and has lost six in a row? We can argue over whether it should or not, but that stuff usually counts pretty strongly in the minds of the voters. The absolute best they could finish is 19-15, and something like 16-18 is looking more likely. She's been good, but has she been good enough to override that?

Players have finished 2nd in MVP voting on losing teams before. One of the things people often overlook when they mention Lauren Jackson getting MVP on a non-playoff team is that the runner up that season also missed the playoffs and played for a team with a losing record.

Yeah I don't see why not.
I think when casting your #1 vote you take into account all the factors, and then as you move on to subsequent votes you need to start compromising, and different voters will compromise in different ways.
Personally I think that other than from espnW she'll get plenty of 2nd & 3rd votes, because although her team are sucking hard she has proven to be a dominant player and ultimately it is still an individual award.

I agree that it is Stewart's race to lose. But I'm kinda disheartened about Tiffany's placement of 6th. Glad she's up though week to week. If you look at it though, only Cooper and Taurasi have won MVP playing the 2. All other MVPs have been wings or post. There is a bias against PGs and SGs it seems.

Considering Hayes is 11th in the league in scoring I think it's a healthy sign of respect that she's sitting at 6th on that list.

18.7 on a team that has gone 12-2 over their last 14 games, 3x POW, POM is why I am saying that. Plus, usually guards the team top guard and defensive numbers are tougher to quantify.

I would put Hayes higher than Sylvia, but the Mystics and Sparks have been good enough to where Parker and Delle Donne’s stats could override Hayes team record. Although my vote would be..

1. Stewart
2. Delle Donne
3. Hayes
4. Parker
5. Cambage

(Pretty big gap between the top 5 and everyone else, so I’ll stop there.)

Parker is 10 th on the scoring list and her team is underperforming this season and she is 3rd on the list Laughing Laughing

Delle Donne has missed a lot of time. She's going to be under 30 games again (now four years running).

Realistically, Hayes will be no better than 5th. I'd guess the voting will go:

1 Stewart
2 Cambage
3 Delle Donne
4 Parker
5 Hayes
