I voted the SUN because I thought they'd be riding MUCH higher so this is a complete surprise to me. Last season they did really well WITHOUT Chiney and they got better adding Chiney, Laney and Lexi Brown at a minimal loss but they've struggled.

Losing A Thomas for a bunch of games really killed their momentum. They could easily be 16-10 or 17-9 right now if she didn't get injured.

On the up side, Atlanta.
On the down side, NY

On the plus side it is between Seattle and Atlanta. I naturally voted for Atlanta, but I think it is justified. Seattle had 3 alleged superstars and an experienced head coach, while the Dream have one superstar and a rookie head coach.
I think the Aces are certainly in mix as well.
On the downside, NY is clearly the most disappointing team, going from a perennial 20 game winner to what is now almost a lock for the lottery.

Atlanta. With only one star, who is aging, they've done surprisingly well. I'm guessing, since I don't watch Atlanta games, that much of the credit must be due to the new coach. |

Mine are Atlanta & Las Vegas. Atlanta because I had them as a lottery team. And Vegas because I thought they'd finish only slightly better than last season.

Mine are Seattle and NY. I thought Seattle would struggle to make the playoffs and that NY would win 18-20. A few teams, like DC and Dallas, are a little better than I thought. LA and Minnesota obviously worse. I liked Atlanta coming in though I thought they’d be more like a 4 seed.

I read or heard somewhere, could have been on here, don’t remember...that this coaching staff prepares with almost nerdlike obsession. Maybe they said that on the broadcast possibly too.
So it’s that plus they’re just good. Adding Breland helped plus Renee is playing a lot better. They play great D, though some of their more difficult matchup games (big posts) are still to come. But they’re deep. Even the backup posts fit their athletic, defensive style. Bentley and Sykes give them really good guards off the bench too. They have so many athletes and big leapers and long players that they D well no matter who’s on the floor. Not many teams can say that.
