Steal Pct

Diminishing returns...

Gabby does a lot of high-risk gambling when she's guarding post players,it's her only line on defense.Gabby will get 1 or 2 steals a game. But when the gamble fails, the opposition gets easy baskets.........Diamond also has a tendency to gamble on defense. The difference is,DD can guard her player(sf/sg/pg) straight up.

I guess UConn produces some of the most “overrated” players on defense. What is it that makes a good defender because you seem to be confused on that point. http://boards.rebkell.net/viewtopic.php?t=92523&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=1027

I think that is an excellent point about steals. You see this with blocks as well, when you gamble on defense, and come up empty, that leads to easy baskets.

The Sky defense has been the worst in the league by a decent amount, so I still see this as a potentially positive indicator for Gabby. It's not like opponents just HAND YOU the ball on offense.

No shades, you’re the one who’s confused...I never said Gabby is a bad defender, just that she’s overmatched at the PF position.......You also made the same mistake in the thread that you provided a link to....

Nurse is a great defender. She covers her man so close that they are a very poor option to go to. Kinda hard to get steals when your man isn’t at the receiving end of a pass. Zune probably prefers defenders who gamble and jump passing lanes to amass steals, like McCoughtry.

I forget, who won the AAC defensive player of the year?

Did you not read my last post?...I clearly stated that getting a bunch of steals does not make a player a great defender....I believe Nurse for the most part will be overmatched at SF...Shooting guard is a different story.kia has the size and speed to be a very good defender at the SG position.

In both situations(Nurse,Gabby)...my opinion was/is that they would be overmatched at the SF(Nurse) and PF(Gabby) positions.

Yes, Nurse vs Guards and Gabby vs SFs would be better matchups for them.

Wow, Jessica Breland is in the top 10 of all the defensive and offensive rebounding categories and the block categories. She is #1 in defensive rating and #2 in defensive win shares.

You have to be careful with defensive rating and defensive win shares because 1) it is heavily influenced by which other 4 players are on the floor and 2) defense in general is much harder to quantify.

However, Breland has always been a great defensive player, she's a major reason why ATL halfcourt D has been so good this year.

Harper seems like logical choice to bring back if Faulkner is out, but Alexis Peterson just tweeted "new start" with a pen image. Maybe Sky are bringing in Peterson?

Harper signed a 7-day contract today, but like I said earlier, that was going to happen anyway.

Hopkins returning is a possibility from what I'm hearing but not set in stone yet. Not sure about Peterson.

I ammm!!! Sadly not my number one team anymore, but Slooty is still my fave player. Voted for the All-star team yesterday morning: 8 Wings and 2 Sky players.

And, I’m not high on Gabby. However, I am the only Sky fan who was never A TYoung fan either.

Sadly, one of my 2 Sky votes was for Faulkner. Wishing her a speedy and full recovery!

I wouldn’t mind picking up Chong or Hopkins. As far as Gabby goes, I really am glad to have her in a sky uniform, I’m just not a fan of her at the 4 for long stretches.

I think Hopkins, Chong or Alexis Peterson would all be an improvement over Harper.

Should throw Goodwin into the mix.

Linnea Harper gets second 7-day contract.

Amber Harris gets 7-day contract on the basis of health exemption for Faulkner and Ndour.
