Taurasi and Cambage both should be above Fowles right now..

Agreed im not understanding why Cambage continues to get overshadowed this early in the season . Charles with 21.2 FGA per game and averaging 23 PPG shouldn't be above cambage in my opinion.

Umm...where's Diggins?.....6th in scoring...4th in asst......Taurasi and Fowles shouldn't even be on the list.....Remove Taurasi/Fowles...add Diggins/Bonner.

People continue to underrate Bonner......There's only 2 players in the league that are top 25 in pts, reb, asst, stls & blks(Bonner,Stewart)......A.Thomas is very close...she came up short by 0.4 stls Razz

Jackson won in 2003 for an 18-16 team, 2007 for a 17-17 team, and 2010 for a 28-6 team.

True this. And you may recall that Lisa Leslie had a hissy when LJ won and the Storm did NOT make the playoffs in one of the years she got MVP. She didn't think that the MVP should be given to someone on a team not making the playoffs.

I guess some people still aren’t familiar with the concept of the All-Star game. You vote for the players you wanna see there, not necessarily the consensus most deserving players. How silly would it be for a Lynx fan to vote for Sparks or Phoenix players, especially considering the All-Star game is coming to Minneapolis? Laughing

This is one of the problems with All-Star games, and All-Star voting. I would much rather have the All-Star game be for the players who have earned the distinction through superior play that season. Being an All-Star should mean something other than being popular.

Especially considering 'X All-Star appearances' is used as an accolade and indication of how good someone was when looking back at their career. The unwarranted appearances make that less accurate than it otherwise might be.

The most entertaining part of the all-star nonsense every year is the debate over who ought to get in. Far more so than any of the actual 'festivities', including the terrible game.

X _______________

I take issue with votes going to players who aren't playing at all due to injury. I love my fave players, but if they're out an extended period AND will not be able to play in All-Star game, I won't vote for them.

We’re now a quarter of the way through the season, and there are two clear-cut favorites (early) in the MVP race. With the way the season is going in Connecticut, it may be difficult for any of the Sun stars to win this award, mainly because of their depth and balance. That could leave the door open for Brittney Griner or Breanna Stewart.

Alyssa Thomas at #3? Seriously?

Oh and Diggins is not on the list. Someone got paid to make that top 10?

The league's leading scorer is not one of the 10(!) top candidates?

Probably because she's only third in assists.

Maybe he's trying to eliminate volume shooters as MVP's.
Nobody is under 42 in FG% on the list.

FG% is honestly a dumb metric. Alyssa Thomas is 49.4% from the field, does that mean she's efficient? Hell no, she's the exact opposite of efficient, especially given her volume. Tina Charles has had like 2 efficient scoring seasons in her career, nobody cares.

And if efficiency is so important, Toliver should be somewhere on the list.

From reading these comments it seems the collective wisdom of this group is that no one on the list should be there. Perhaps ten players should just be selected at random.

With the way Diggins has been playing and how bad the lynx have been there shouldnt be a reason that Fowles is on this list and Diggins isnt..

Hell, Wilson should be there over Fowles. Their teams have the same amount of wins...

Boom , Surprised to say i Agree with Michelle on the Diggins assessment . I also agree Wilson should be on this list if Fowles is on here oddly .

Seems like a rather arbitrary stat to use to eliminate someone. Why not consider the entire package? Diggins' TS% is higher than A. Thomas's, who the writer lists as 3rd on his list. Thomas has a PER of 16.3, whereas Diggins is at 22.8, so I guess she's doing something right.

Also, why did you change my post to demote Diggins to 4th in assists. On the WNBA site, it reads:

1. Bird 6.0
2. Gray 5.9
3. Diggins 5.8
4. J. Thomas 5.1

Where did you get your stats?

Vandersloot is at 6.0, but I guess she doesn't have enough games played to qualify as one of the "leaders".

How about

1. Stewart
2. N. Ogwumike
3. Griner
4. Diggins-Smith
5. A. Thomas
6. L. Cambage
7. C. Gray
8. J. Loyd
9. D. Taurasi
10.T. Hayes

Maybe add EDD when she gets a few more games played

No one from a team below 500 ATM Maybe later if Wilson is averaging 20 and 10 and LV is close to even

4. Charles
5. N Ogwumike
6. Hayes
7. Cambage
8. Loyd
9. Wilson
10. Toliver (over Gray, yes I'm a homer Razz )
