Seriously, dude? We get it, you're Mr. WNBA. Totally insensitive and uncalled for.
RIP Anne, how very sad!

I didn't notice this tread before and was absolutely shocked to see the statement during the half time broadcast. It's so, so sad...

Chill. It's just a simple, relevant fact. So is the fact that Donovan was the first female head coach to win a WNBA championship.
Very sad news, especially considering she was still relatively young.

She was a significant part of Lauren Jackson becoming one of the best of all time as well.

You say that, but I guarantee someone would have asked the question and everyone would have been looking for me to answer.
I'm sorry it came across badly.

I got an email from the Storm. I can't believe she's gone.
I remember the championship celebration, and she was asked about being the first female coach to win. Her response was something like, she was happy to win and "that I am a woman is just a cherry on top".
Rest in peace, Anne. Thank you for what you did for Seattle, for the Storm and its players, and for women's basketball.

There was nothing wrong with your post. In fact as I was reading this heartbreaking news about Anne, I was wondering if she was the first head coach the W has lost, so your information was well appreciated.

Nothing bad or inappropriate about it, buddy. I found it interesting.
I know she drew criticism at times in her coaching, but my view of her was that she embodied the quintessential selflessness and dedication that is increasingly rare amongst the players of 'our game'. I never had the impression she was a diva or tried to create a 'brand'....just went out and got the job done, as a player. She definitely earned her HOF status.
The first (and only) time I saw her up close was in an elevator, at the Pan Am games in '88. She was in there, with McClain and Edwards, and I remember thinking i'd never seen such a large woman. But gracious and just nice!
May she be long remembered!
