Is the league not doing Players of the Week anymore? I would think we would have them by now.

Be interesting to see if Tip remains the Dream's No. 1 scorer as the season wears on, or if Angel passes her.

my heart skipped a beat at this title. POW = prisoner of war and my first thought was something bad has happened.

Since each week has two POW awards, we now have six. Two guards and four posts. Can't believe Skylar didn't get it this week as it shot her straight up to #1 in scoring.

Griner's six POW awards are as many as Cynthia Cooper won in her WNBA career

Diggins had a great week, but Dallas only played one game. Griner was consistent for 3 games during the week.

Griner was consistent? Or was she just consistent scoring? WNBA's agenda to name BG the MVP is back in full effect.

She had 12 blocks in 3 games and averaged nearly 10 rebounds. That on top of 23 points a game. That’s an MVP week.

That’s what happens when Griner stays in the game. If she plays at this level defensively without foul trouble like this week, she will be winning a lot of these.

And why would the WNBA have such an agenda, or any agenda?

Conspiracies exist, but this one seems pretty unlikely.

The voters have been tabbing BG as the MVP since the season began. So any type of exceptional performance will be Exaggerated under a microscope.

From the article:
The 6-9 center tied for second in the West in scoring (23.0 ppg) and ranked fourth in rebounding (9.7 rpg). She also paced the WNBA in blocked shots (4.0 bpg) and led West players in field goal percentage (63.6, 28-of-44).

So, in terms of the Western Conference, Griner was 1st in scoring, 1st in field goal percentage, 2nd in scoring, and 4th in rebounding, while leading her team to a 3-0 record...

...but that type of exceptional performance will be "[e]xaggerated under a microscope," based on a preseason conspiracy, in your opinion?

It sure seems as if Griner put up numbers worthy of the WC POW nod. This weekly award was well deserved...and earned.

The MVP conspiracy is what im referring to this is just a stepping stone. Im sure most agree BG would have Won MVP last season if not for missing those games. Yet her rebounding has been crap minus the last game in vegas in which all those complaining posters have seem to forget not even 3 days ago the thread was under rage about BGs lazy rebounding numbers.

She had 15 rebounds in one game, which means she averaged 7.0 rpg in the other two. Not stellar, but hardly "crap."

Also, in the three games, she blocked 12 shots. Should she be getting those rebounds as well, or is it enough that she swats the shot away?

Finally, given it is a Player of the Week award, not a season award.

Not sure how this is a stepping stone toward a conspiracy when you clearly agree that she earned the award this week and have not proffered another candidate that you deemed deserved it more.

This is the 40th POW award for the Lynx. Only Los Angeles and Phoenix have more.

It's kind of lame how little competition Delle Donne has in the East. This POW feels really cheap.

Her only competition is Charles, McCoughtry and anyone on the Sun.

There is no competition if she can get POW by putting up numbers below her season averages.
