Are you ready to project Amber Stocks as the COY based on the early gravy schedule?

Just noticed that the Fever were 7-7 at this point last season. And the Lynx were 12-1.

So far not much proof that Angel or the coaching change is making the Dream any better. Of course, all they have to do is avoid a 10 game losing streak and they probably will end up better bu the time the season ends.

Same can be said for the Wings. But people know our losses are mostly because of the sideline leader and not the players themselves.

But Fred was coaching last year, so it is surprising that Dallas has the same record (so far) as last year, when their roster was considered upgraded.

Bah dump bump. But the point is, the coach is factored out of the changes equation. The Dallas Wings (whose lineup may get over-rated) was supposed to have been upgraded and yet they have the same record (so far). So the lineup change may not have been as good as thought. But it's still early.

It's not really that early now. The season is about half over. Dallas has played 15 games while some teams have played 17 or 18. The rest of the teams have played 16 games. The time to start improving records is now.

There's an upper limit on how good your team can be if Fred Williams is the coach. He's had seven full seasons for three different teams and has never won more than 18 games.

I think people tend to forget how bad the San Antonio Stars were last year.

The top three in + all have new coaches ...

The bottom three include aging and uninterested (much of the time) Minnesota, a new coach and a coach that has less than a sterling reputation.

Coaching does matter as long as there is talent to work with ...

Maybe they'll win in the playoffs this year, or maybe not.

Reeve was probably stupid like me and assumed Maya Moore would be an MVP-caliber player this year, and not that Maya needed Perkins, Montgomery, Howard, and Pierson to make her look good, since Maya is worth at least -2 or -3 wins this year versus prior years. Or Reeve isn't a great coach, since players become "better" when they leave the Lynx, and players like Maya become "mediocre" instead when they stay on the Lynx, because it is embarrassing knowing that Howard is statistically better than Maya Moore this season, making it look like the Lynx should've traded Maya Moore instead, though then Maya would probably average 25 ppg, 9 rpg, 7 apg, & 4 spg, while Howard would still average 10 mpg on the Lynx playing behind whatever mediocre veteran they signed to replace Pierson (originally Kizer). Though in theory, Reeve should've not kept Brunson, but that would've never happened because of "feelings".

Stocks + DeShields + Williams + Coates + (1/2)Faulkner = -1; Stocks market is down this year
Thibault - Meesseman + Sanders + Atkins = -1; Usual meh from Thibault
Miller + Ogwumike - (1/2)Thomas = -3; Value of Miller is reaching sub-basement levels. May have to consider further excavation.
Agler + (1/2)Pondexter + (1/2)Vadeeva - (1/2)Beard - (1/2)Ogwumike = -4
Reeve - Howard - Pierson - Montgomery - Perkins + Robinson + Wright + Zandalasini = -6
Math says Reeve’s value as a first time GM really sucks
Smith - Raintree + Coleman + (1/2)Boyd - (1/2)Prince - (1/2)Zellous + Nurse - (9/10)Arena = -6; The addition of a Nurse to this MASH unit wasn’t enough to stop the bleeding
Pokey - Larkins - Coleman - January + Mitchell + Vivians = -6

Hughes + Howard + Canada + Paris - Swords - Takashiki - Peterson = +9
Laimbeer + Wilson + Young + Park + Swords + Bone + Allen - Harrison - Holmes - Colson - Montgomery - Alexander - Burdick = +8

Yeah, I was trying keep things cleaner by not including marginal value entities other than the coaches.

Plus, Laimbeer was the guy making the roster moves, so he gets credit for most personnel changes except Wilson. (Anybody smarter than a rock knew to draft Wilson.)

Let's all remember that Indiana was bad last year, and is now much, much worse. Some of that might be intentional, though does anyone really think the likes of the January and Larkins we see this year would make much of a difference? Pokey has somehow managed to make a bad team look like it will challenge for the least or second least number of wins in WNBA history. the rookies look worse than when the season started? The signing of Cappie is ludicrous.

What else does a coach have to do to get fired?

Pokey has a history of going the extra mile in that regard

Meh from Thibault? Because his record is 1 game worse after replacing 2 borderline all-star players with a roleplayer and a mid-1st round rookie?

Some might be marginal, but Tamara Young is playing 26.9 mpg in place of Alex Montgomery who is pretty far down the Chicago bench this year (6.4 mpg in 19 games).

Colson (11.6 mpg) and Holmes (11.3 mpg) combined for 22.9 mpg in 2017 but couldn't make a WNBA roster this year. Kayla Alexander was 15.4 mpg in 2017, but this year is 9.0 mpg on the worst team.

I guess this is a season that goes under the category of "Coaches Do Matter". Boucek out, Hughes in Seattle is +11. Cooper out, Collen in Atlanta is + 11. The 3 teams that improved the most brought in new coaches. Team that dropped the most changed coaches too.

You could also interpret as
MSG leaves NYL: -15
Wilson and MGM come to LVA: +6

‘Nuf sed.

Thanks a lot Reeve. Seattle already makes fun of the Thunder for being too cheap/stupid to keep James Harden, and now they make fun of the Lynx for being too cheap/stupid to keep Natasha Howard. 😭

I'm just a Storm fan, I don't worry too much about what's going on at the end of other people's benches. All I know is what a difference Howard has made here.

At least my initial fear came true. Very Happy

I'm scared the Lynx are obsessed with getting rid of Howard for nothing, sort of like how the Twins were once obsessed with getting rid of David Ortiz for nothing, and we all saw how that worked out. lol

I want Robert Mueller to investigate whether Reeve colluded with Seattle so the Storm can win the title this year, otherwise Reeve is too stupid, or not Minnesota enough, for her to repeat all the same mistakes all the other Minnesota GMs have made. Smile

Well if you're so mad about letting Howard go, imagine how Indiana fans must feel. Smile

With the exception of a couple of games, Howard was a disaster at Indiana who often looked like she had never seen a basketball before. It's nice that she has improved since then, but I'm not mad at all about Indiana trading her.

I already know, because the Natasha Howard Curse says whatever team has her goes to the WNBA Finals every year, while whatever team trades her will be (about) .500 the next season and forced to rebuild. I was too naive to ever think Reeve would rather get rid of Howard than be guaranteed to make the WNBA Finals and not have to go almost .500 the next year and rebuild. Maybe next time I should warn her about all these curses, and then I should bet on them if I think they might exist. Smile And the Natasha Howard Curse obviously supersedes the New York Liberty Curse, unless the Lynx magically win the WNBA Finals with Tanisha Wright. The Storm were a lock to win the title as soon as they picked up Mercedes Russell, unless there is an even greater Aerial Powers Curse that says getting rid of Powers gets you (or the coach) fired and the team that ends up with her wins the title to fulfill the prophecy of Aerial Powers being able to admire the WNBA Championship Trophy again as in WNBA 09's avatar. Smile

Are you sure Fred wasn't the victim of the Saniya Chong curse.

That was definitely it, and then he was doubly cursed by replacing the poised Chong with the Spanish flameoutco dancer.
