Not sure I agree with the first part. If you're truly scouting a player and presumably looking at lots of tape, one of the things you have to look at is how much size a 'big' really has. If all (or most) of us noticed the height amplification beyond the normal bounds, then there is no excuse for a team scouting that player not to see it as well. That said, mistakes happen, and how well a player's abilities will translate to the pros is not always obvious. Dallas may well have realized Akhator was 'short' but still thought she could become a GloJo type player. And really, she may still do it sometime down the road. I wish her well in her overseas career. Maybe she'll be back.
I think Williams has his own style of coaching. This year he has the guns for it so we will see how well that translates into wins.

Zahui went from winning a championship in Czech to coming over to Liberty camp with no rest. KML is spending time with her family in California instead of being in camp. Who wants a WNBA job more? |
KML could be a 3 point specialist for the right team...Unfortunately she has 4 things working against her:
1.Poor defender
2.Inconsistent condition
3.Lack of size at the SF position
4.Hasn't found her stroke at the pro level(32% from 3)
Coach Hughes talking about playing Stewart at SF isn't a good sign for KML.

| Any 2015 pick will be a RFA after this season. Loyd, Williams and Stokes are locks to get new contracts. Probably Cheyenne Parker, Cloud and Boyd, too. But are teams going to even offer the minimum to players like KML, Zahui B and Hamby?

It's because he used the fact that none us fans had Akhator as a Top 8 pick to mock us (instead of any other example of fans being wrong), so were we considered ignorant/stupid for not thinking Akhator would be a top player in the 2017 Draft or ignorant/stupid for not knowing a team would be crazy enough to draft her in the Top 10 (only to cut her the follow season)?

The preseason game against the Aces.
Chong had an impressive game, very good well rounded game
Cambage left me with the impression she will not be overwhelmed by anyone this year, instead she will overwhelm others.
We are a better team with Glory on the court. She makes things happen.
K Davis and Cambage were victims of marginal foul calls.
K Davis has Glory-like moves, smooth, fluid, and a passing lane anticipation steal, fast break behind the back pass to Gray...well we didn't score, but it sure was exciting.
And then there is Stevens. Instinctive ability to know where the basket is at all times. She can do more than score. She is a really good fit for this team

I remember you commenting right away about Akhator being shorter than advertised based on seeing her in college (maybe other people did, but don't recall it). But I don't remember anyone saying anything about Zahui B being significantly shorter than her roster height. At some point I saw Zahui standing near the listed 6'2" Pierson in a game and they looked very close in height. So I posted it here ( http://boards.rebkell.net/viewtopic.php?start=1100&t=85735 )
and there were responses about it, but I don't remember anyone saying that they always thought she was shorter than advertised.

I'm not buying that a person who has NCAA titles and WNBA finals appearances is incompetent. That doesn't mean he is the best out there, but there is a lot in between that, and I'd hardly call a person with those on there resume an incompetent coach.

No,Injuries and Cambage not showing up played the biggest role in Dallas being mediocre....Cambage has never made the playoffs...Tulsa had the worst defense in the league even when Cambage did show up...Stop trying to pin all of Tul/Dal defensive problems on Paris..

2 words PICK & ROLL , that was our thorn every season she played with us and everyone in the league knew it. Cambage should be a upgrade with her rim protection . We were owned in the middle with Paris at Center . This was no fluke i saw it every game up close and personal time and time again . Hoping Liz & Azura can resolve those issues of the past. Clear upgrades in my opinion.

It should be an upgrade..But stop acting like Courtney was the only bad defender on the team....Dallas guards have been historically bad at stopping dribble penetration...And Cambage has her own flaws on defense and offense...Liz is bad at guarding players in space,and in transition.She's also foul prone,and turns the ball over at a high rate.

But my point is that when the well-being of the teams depends on knowing that kind of information, there is no excuse for not knowing it. Someone is getting paid to know it!
