Pilight probably has the data about how infrequently undrafted camp invites make the final roster. The recent data is more relevant since WNBA clubs are more stacked now.

I can look at it more closely when I get back home. Last year Sophie Brunner was the only straight from college undrafted rookie to make a roster.

ETA: In 2016 none made it. In 2015 only Jennifer O'Neill did. In 2014 there were three; Heather Butler, Aaryn Ellenberg, and Shanece McKinney. In 2013 there were two that made opening day; Cierra Bravard and Courtney Clements. Two others were picked up late in the season; Chelsea Hopkins and Joslyn Tinkle. In 2012 just Avery Warley made it.

So, it's a longshot. And most of those that made it didn't last the whole season.

If Miyem is the third best post, the Lynx could be in big ish.

Could have been a really bad day, but I saw a McCoughtry highlight clip that also acted as a Miyem lowlight clip.

https://instagram.com/p/BgJnnKTnOds/

I also remember a box score where Miyem had 0 rebounds in like 28 min. These are not the things that give me the warm and fuzzies.

An apparently badly missed call in last night’s Minnesota Wild playoff game inspired this author to write about the worst missed calls in Minnesota sports history, which included the infamous Nnekalonians 1:14

Oddly, he missed the call that the Lynx got against the Mercury in the playoffs the year before.

_________X

Or the no call in Game 4 of 2017 Finals when Minny got away with that obvious 8 second backcourt violation in crunch time.

If I were writing an article about costly playoff calls that went against Arizona teams, I might include the call against the Mercury.

If I were writing an article about costly playoff calls that went against Los Angeles teams, I might include the missed 8 second violation.

Neither of those make sense in the article that was being written, however. So why even bring them up in this context? Suggesting they were "missed" is disingenuous at best.

Stupid article anyways, IMO.
Besides the fact that I don't believe that a missed shot clock violation cost the Lynx, I hate Minnesota fans who complain about the 2009 Twins-Yankees ALDS Game 2—Kubel's at-bat would've went differently if Mauer got a double instead of a single, so no guarantee he still even gets a hit. Twins still loaded the bases with no outs and managed to get no runs, which is why they lost (of course extra innings never would've happened had Joe Nathan not blown a save).

Also, the worst call from the 2009 NFC Championship was roughing the passer not being called on the dirty Saints' high-low hit that knocked out Favre, which would've put the Vikings in FG range to take the lead late in the 3rd quarter instead of an INT.

Cheryl Reeve: Lynx 'carving out a place in sports history'

http://m.startribune.com/cheryl-reeve-lynx-carving-out-a-place-in-sports-history/481156641/

Quote:
Lynetta Kizer, I’m optimistic about. She has an efficient way of putting the ball in the hole.

Quote:
Last year we had 114 days in the season, this year we have 94. So what that meant about last season is there was much more practice time.

20 day shorter season, and Reeve doesn’t see it as a negative. Shocked

Quote:
We’re going to use our bench. I try hard not to run our guards into the ground. I think we’re deep there, serious depth on the perimeter. I don’t have as much depth in the post.

Quote:
[As far as bench returners] I have Alexis, I have Celelia and Temi Fagbenle. I don’t see any significant jumps in any of them, in terms of eye-popping

Quote:
You’ve said you’ll likely only carry 11 players to start the season. Given your roster, it will be hard for a first-year player to make the team.

Quote:
With Kizer, we’re fortunate she’s been able to be in town early. That’s given her a leg up. Temi has had a great offseason, but she’s injured. It’s a minor injury (A sternoclavicular dislocation, which will put her out a few weeks), but an injury nonetheless.

They might have to consider cutting Fagbenle until she’s healthy enough to return, or else they’ll start out with 10 active. I doubt there would be much danger in any team picking her up.

Quote:
But to be home during [the All Star break], in this season, is beneficial. Because of the frenetic pace. Anyone chosen to be an all star will be able to stay home.

May 6: First preseason game, vs. Washington at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

May 12: Preseason finale vs. Chicago at Target Center.

May 17: Final roster cuts are due.

May 20: Regular-season opener. The Lynx host the Los Angeles Sparks in a rematch of the past two league finals.

Deitsch: WNBA champion Lynx haven’t received White House invite, coach says

https://theathletic.com/338473/2018/05/01/cheryl-reeve-lynx-wnba-white-house-visit-champions/

Quote:
“We have not (been invited) — and that has certainly been disappointing,” Lynx head coach and general manager Cheryl Reeve said Tuesday on the Sports Media Podcast.

Reeve said that the team was immediately contacted each October by the Obama White House after winning previous championships in 2011, 2013 and 2015.

Lynx start live scrimmaging on Day 3 of camp

http://m.startribune.com/lynx-start-live-scrimmaging-on-day-3-of-camp/481412091/

Quote:
“We put defense on stuff and didn’t look very good today,’’ Reeve said. “Today was an illuminating day.’’

Hmmm... Laimbeer was applying defense from Day 1.

Quote:
Reeve singled out rookie guard Carlie Wagner as one of the young players who responded well to the challenge of the first real scrimmages.

YASSS! Cool

Quote:
She also did a lot with three-guard sets, something she things will be a big part of the team’s offense this season.

Oh great Confused
Unless this means they might go with a 6 guard roster Smile

Quote:
Reeve said she was pleasantly surprised at how agile new backup post player Lynetta Kizer is on the defensive end. On offense Kizer, who has a good outside shot, is a stretch-big who can put pressure on a defense. On the other end, Reeve is starting to think Kizer will be able to play defend both centers and power forwards, depending on the opponent.

Nice!

Kizer has always bounced back and forth between C & PF her whole career. No surprise. Moore could always act as that 5th post option if Reeve wants to go guard heavy.

PG: Whalen/Robinson/Jones
SG: Augustus/Wagner
SF: Moore/Wright/Zandalasini
PF: Brunson/Barta
C: Fowles/Kizer

How good will this team be next year when way hangs up the sneakers? Do you think she would give the W a heads up for her last hoorah ?

Or, y'know, the version without random late-round youngsters Reeve would never play:

PG: Whalen/Robinson/Jones
SG: Augustus/Wright
SF: Moore/Zandalasini
PF: Brunson/Miyem
C: Fowles/Kizer
