Probably not much of a contest here. Not saying it’s undeserved, but it’s all about the Mavungas now.

No, cutting Coleman should secure Pohlen-Mavunga as the backup SF, leaving the rest for that guard battle. It’ll be interesting to see if Abdelkader’s three point game will be enough to usurp Gwathmey’s all around game.

I hope that they try Abdelkader and see what she can bring. We already know that Gwathmey doesn't bring anything that isn't easily replaceable.

Gwathmey has exceeded my really low expectations of her.

There's, what, nine players there you'd care much about keeping? Something like:
KMitchell/Wheeler
TMitchell/SJohnson
Vivians
Dupree/Achonwa
Larkins/Alexander

After that, the last three spots are anyone's, including people who aren't currenty on the roster. I kinda expect Ben Abdelkader to get a proper look, but they'll want her to show something in camp. Beyond that, why be tied to anyone in your own camp when there could be better options on the waiver wire?

They picked up Alexander at a fire sale and paid almost nothing for her. Not sure how that makes her a lock over the #14 pick.

I suppose you could try the waiver wire, depending how early they are cut. You’d have to really covet a late camp cut to invest in them without any kind of trial over what you already have and know.

I think if Carson would hit the wire Pokey would definitely grab her if Laimbeer passed. Syd Wiese.... that would be intriguing also.

But every year we speculate about the waiver wire and the good things that could come out of it and every year nothing really exciting (that I remember) ever comes out of it. Anything that worthy usually gets traded.

You have to wonder if it's just the Fever cleaning house or if possibly she's injured. If she's not, I wonder who else will pick her up?

Finally. Terrible terrible player. Incredibly inconsistent. She was not worth max money. Another team will grab her, but she’s not worth picking up.

She had one really nice season a few years back, was it for Lynn Dunn? Otherwise it's been meh at best. She's one of those players I always hope will do better...but she doesn't.
I can't imagine why Seattle would pick her up. Clark is way better and more consistent than her. If they can't find someone better than Clark, then why bother?

So they get rid of player that had one good season in her career to keep space for another player that has never had a good year........ I guess I should keep my mouth shut - last time I disparaged a Fever player she ended up on the Dream roster and the rest is history.

Yeah if they were cleaning house they could just move on from all the vets, but all the remaining vets above were re-signed this off season which is usual a good sign the team wants them around.

Just like a rookie to think she can play the same position she did in college.

it looks like the coaches are working with her on post moves...so it's not like she's saying something out in left field. Even while playing SF, it's good to have post moves so you can post up smaller defenders.

Any player can post up their defender, but she said ”obviously I can play the 4.”
