The eighth pick might be a good player, but then again ...

Briona Jones
Courtney Williams
Ally Malott
Shoni Schimmel
Kayla Alexander
Natalie Novosel
Ta'Shia Phillips

I’m surprised you rep Courtney Williams as a negative.
Unless she regresses, she looks to be the ongoing starter.
Schimmel is/was a great player. The WNBA turned out to not be a priority for her.
Kayla Alexander is still playing and good enough for a team to recently trade for her, although at a fire sale price.

The #8 isn’t unlucky. You just have to pick right.

2017
10 Dallas Wings Kaela Davis, South Carolina
11 Los Angeles Sparks Sydney Wiese, Oregon State
12 Minnesota Lynx Alexis Jones, Baylor

2016
8 Phoenix Mercury Courtney Williams, South Florida
9 Indiana Fever Tiffany Mitchell, South Carolina
10 Chicago Sky Imani Boyette, Texas
11 Atlanta Dream Bria Holmes, West Virginia

2015
9 New York Liberty Brittany Boyd, California
11 New York Liberty Kiah Stokes, Connecticut
12 Phoenix Mercury Isabelle Harrison, Tennessee

2014
8 Atlanta Dream Shoni Schimmel, G, Louisville
9 Indiana Fever Natalie Achonwa, F, Notre Dame
11 Connecticut Sun Chelsea Gray, G, Duke
12 Minnesota Lynx Tricia Liston, G, Duke
13 Tulsa Shock Jordan Hooper, F, Nebraska

2013
8 San Antonio Stars Kayla Alexander, C, Syracuse
9 Indiana Fever Layshia Clarendon, G, Cal
13 Atlanta Dream Alex Bentley, G, Penn State
14 Minnesota Lynx Sugar Rodgers, G, Georgetown

2012
12 Minnesota Lynx Damiris Dantas, C, Brazil
14 Atlanta Dream Tiffany Hayes, G, Connecticut
17 Tulsa Shock Riquna Williams, G, Miami (Fla.)

2011
9 Indiana Fever Jeanette Pohlen, G, Stanford
10 New York Liberty Alex Montgomery, F, Georgia Tech
12 Seattle Storm Jasmine Thomas, G, Duke
13 Minnesota Lynx (Traded to NYL) Jessica Breland, F, North Carolina
15 Chicago Sky Carolyn Swords, C, Boston College
16 Connecticut Sun (Traded to NYL) Sydney Colson, G, Texas A&M

Also, this draft class is one of the deeper ones we’ve ever seen. It’ll be hard to totally screw up the #8 pick.

Courtney Williams is a ‘but then again...’?? I want some of what your smokin’ lol. & who knows, Brionna Jones might turn out to be a great player this coming season or next. She came off the bench for Jonquel Jones last year and because of that, didn’t see a ton of playing time. JJ didn’t get a ton of minutes in her first season either.

It's the odds I'm talking about ... those are the last seven No. 8 picks.

I'm in California, by the way, so we have many quality options now ...

Still a few days left to vote in this.

Now you can plug in what the teams got for their 2018 picks.

Check this out:
LVA receives a 2019 second round from IND pick in the Alexander trade.
LVA gave up a 2019 second round pick to PHX in Bone trade.
Now LVA gave up a 2019 second round pick to MIN in the draft day trade.

Which 2019 second round pick does MIN end up with, LVA’s or IND’s?
