Jill Barta radio interview
Later round coverage of the draft was so clustered and confusing that she found out she was traded before she knew she was drafted.

Honorable Mention: Kristen Folkl – more as a figure head as 1st player allocated to the Lynx
Kristen Folkl brings back fond memories. She was the player who got me interested in WCBB. I used to follow womens volleyball and she was the best player in the country. Totally dominated the sport. When she began to play basketball my interest in her followed her to Stanford Basketball. I remember that even at 6'2" she, with her quick jumping ability via volleyball skills was unstoppable in the paint. She could dunk in high school, but it wasn't just how high she could jump but how quickly she elevated.

I also remember that she didn't play for the Stanford team her senior year until injuries dictated her return. She also, due to some horrible calls, fouled out at the end of the simi final game and with her out Stanford lost. As I stated she was unstoppable in the paint. She just elevated so quickly. I credit her for my present interest in womens Basketball.

Anosike made the list at #19.

I wonder who decides these?

Yup and that's ok with me Mr. Green

Hey 20 yrs is a generation worth of memories Laughing So this "old lady" is happy to have a history to talk and reminisce about, while also being able to enjoy the present. Mr. Green Too many fans have lost their teams Sad
Besides, the draft was no big deal for my squad, nothing to really talk about so …

This team has been around 20yrs so my question is who exactly is doing this ranking? Who made up the committee? I think you can count on one hand anyone who has been in that front office beyond 10 yrs so I’m not too hopeful they will do justice to the early years of the franchise.

With Swanson there they're not going to be ignoring anyone from the early years if the numbers are there to back them up.

This is true, he was one of the few I know off Laughing But there's more to impact then just numbers IMO in some cases. In this day of analytics other milestones can get pushed aside.
Like Tonya Edwards wasn't here long but she was our 1st PG and our 1st WNBA All-Star, which is part of the team history.

Would a part of you feel better if Whalen were to just retire before the season?

They have a lot options now with DRob, AJones, and TWright. Are the Lynx really going to collapse without her? Is Team USA going to collapse without Whalen?

I suppose the Lynx will make a big production of the retirement season.

There is no way Zimmerman would replace Jones. There are a ton of reasons why, but the biggest is simply that Jones is a significantly better player with a significantly higher ceiling. Jones isn't bottom of the rotation chum, she is actually a good player with eventual all-star potential.

Some fans of another team will be.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks Wright is a lock. She hasn't played in over a year and wasn't exactly stellar the last time she did play.

Reeve does prefer her vets, so even if Wright isn't 100%, she'll probably make the team over Jones and Zimmerman. Even just to ride the end of the bench.

If this season is the last hurrah for Whay, wright and Drob and last attempt to break the even year curse I totally see Reeve keeping Jones to start the 2019 season. Draft Mccowan/brown with the seattle swapped pick and then the Lynx can pull a tankury and sit Maya and Big Syl for the 2019 season and get a lottery pick for Ionescu in 2020 Laughing

Unless Ionescu declares early.

Dumping Alexis Jones so you can get the last little scrap of Tanisha Wright would be foolish.

There's very little chance of Zimmerman beating out Jones.

Zimmerman is not a factor in anything (although I did talk about her in the mock draft thread). If Zimmerman were to make the roster ahead of Wagner, the local Costco would sell out of tiki torch fuel.

Stop getting excited about every camp invite. Pilight probably has the data about how infrequently undrafted camp invites make the final roster. The recent data is more relevant since WNBA clubs are more stacked now.

Where does this thought even come from? Team signs some random training camp fodder to a training camp deal since four players will not be ready for camp and a bunch of others are in the twilight of their careers, and people even entertain the possibility that they will cut their most promising young player on the team?

Zimmerman over Jones is obviously nuts. Miyem is likely to surprise some people who just think she's some random foreigner, too. Adapting to a new league/country and slightly different kind of basketball can always cause issues, but she may well be the third-best post on this roster.
