1.The only way this makes sense is if a trade is in the works:

Gabby for C.Ogwumike
Gabby for Langhorne
Gabby for Meesseman
Gabby for Harrison & Coffey

2.Chicago didn't Draft D.Deshields to have her come off the bench,or to be Copper's backup. If that was the case they would not have drafted two wings.Of course, anything is possible with this stupid franchise.

This could be a good mid-season trade idea if Ogwumike decides she doesn’t like her role and Stocks figures out she could use a decent PF.

Who knows, maybe a couple of these CHI post players will actually step up this year.

She doesn’t play this year, and maybe she’ll never play again if traded to Chicago. Wink

You already have that DeShields daddy attitude where she learned it from.

I don’t understand the people (is Stocks one of them) who think Gabby will be playing PF in the WNBA. Maybe they could get away with it for awhile or in spot duty, but being a full time PF would really take a toll on Gabby’s body. And she was already showing signs of wearing down her senior year. Before her senior season there was an article where Gabby said she was relieved that Stevens was on the team so she could focus more on the perimeter (didn’t really happen). She said going against players bigger than her all the time was exhausting. Now in the WNBA, more players are even bigger and stronger.

Williams will play power about as often as Delle Donne played shooting guard for the Sky.

Not sure what’s happening here. Seems like a mess to me.

If Chicago wants to go all-in and put the best athletes on the floor to complements its best shooters, it should try this starting lineup:

PG - Courtney Vandersloot
SG - Allie Quigley
W - Diamond DeShields
F - Gabby Williams
P - Stefanie Dolson

Chicago has some rebuilding years ahead. Might as well left the young guns get some experience.

And I hope this isn't the case with Stocks.

Sloot/Faulkner
Quigley/Copper
Deshields/G. Williams/A. Montgomery
Dolson/Bulgak/N'Dour
Coates/Ch. Parker

yeah it was a coin toss so

Sloot/Faulkner
Quigley/Copper
Deshields/G. Williams/A. Montgomery or Hooper
Dolson/Bulgak/N'Dour
Coates/Ch. Parker

I think with A. Montgomery you get better defense and someone who can play the 2 or the 3.

With Hopper you get better shooting and someone who can play the 3 or a stretch 4 in a small line up.

Graves and Harris were never re-signed. It's basically Dolson-Bulgak-Ndour-Williams.

You can think of their draft as drafting for 2019. Next year they should be adding Brown or MCowan so that will help shore up some short comings.

Dolson can be a 4 on offense. On defense, Amber could move Steph back to 5 and try Coates at 4. Coates runs well for her size, although I'm not sure about lateral quickness. It's worth a try since the Sky sunk a #2 pick into Coates.

We need to wait and see how the 2018 season unfolds before making a decision on the next personnel moves for the Sky. The Sky should not lock into drafting another CENTER if there is a high quality power forward available. Very Happy

And watch they'll take someone like McCowan or Kalani Brown.

What are they supposed to do, take Turner or Shepard if they have the #1 pick? They should take whoever they like best and work out the rest in trade if they believe Dolson can’t be a 4.

Here’s an interesting video. It’s Amber Stocks talking to Diamond DeShields on the phone after selecting her. She’s doing a kinda masterful job in drawing DeShields in.... making her feel wanted so maybe she’ll stick around. Already feeling the need to stroke DeShields’ ego.
