I think it’s McGee-Stafford.
I guess the Ajavon era is over. Can we all bow our heads in silence🙇
Don’t know much about Leuchanka, but this looking like a sturdy roster.

I know Laimbeer said Hines-Allen needs to be a SF, but she’s not one.
Let’s show Chiney this depth chart and see how much she loves this culture.

Asking for opinions:
Did anyone notice there were many games Gabby Williams was the UCONN starter with less minutes than the other starters? Not every game, but enough to wonder...why?
Was A Stevens pushing for minutes?
Was there a minor hip injury I heard mention of late in the season?
Did her athleticism put her in an unlikely postion given another situation?
Stats based on minutes?
For those in the know, will these question marks escalate her status, or drop her a few? |
Gabby had that hip injury since early in the season. She sat the entire second half against ND on December 3rd (game #7). It was mentioned frequently throughout the season that the injury bothered her -- including during the NCAA tournament. Still, Williams only averaged 2 minutes less than Collier. Since they were the starting post players, naturally Stevens' minutes had to come from them. Given that Geno constantly praised Gabby's effort -- and we know he isn't shy about criticism -- any suggestion that she played fewer minutes because Auriemma lacked confidence in her is way off base. Regardless of how fans feel about Williams (I've never viewed Gabby as a lottery pick either) there's no doubt that the coach loved her.

Over all very few teams need more than one draft pick. A couple have two only Indy keeps 3. Unlike last year where 4 got through I don't see any 3rd rounders making a team unless they bump off a higher pick
Crap R. Williams, well she either knocks Weise off or is traded for a future asset, maybe a 2nd round pick in 19? But then she has to be on someone else's roster.
I thought Dos Santos was suspended last year but was technically still on The Aces, if not Dos Santos you have Hamby or Coffey.
In Chicago if not Hooper, who I think is still a decent 3rd string player then who? Epps, Flaherty, a training camp invite?
Muldrow might be able to knock off Peters in Washington
Hines-Allen will probably end up backing up the 4 spot but I listed her as a 3. A. Thomas might be shifted back to the 3 but I listed her as a 4, so there is some wiggle room there.
OTOH I think we'll see some trade on draft might so things will not play out as neatly as I have them above.
unless NY make a great trade we're looking at IMO no less than 9 players from last years roster, and it could be as much as all 11, with only the addition of the first round pick, the other picks and the training camp contracts will be looking to bump off who ever is closest to the bubble, maybe Ibekwe pulls through, maybe R. Gray has figured out how to fix her short comings, but until they prove it in camp I'm rolling with last years 11 and praying for internal improvement. Our off season woes really made it hard to switch things up.

IU's Tyra Buss is proud of her legacy

“I do want to keep playing for as long as I can, whether that’s WNBA or overseas,’’ Buss said. |
Quote: |
She planned to meet with former Indiana Fever star Tamika Catchings this week to get some advice.
“I’m going to be needing to talk to agents and all of that, and I really have no idea what I should be looking for. So Tamika will help me with that,’’ Buss said. “If I get drafted, I think WNBA training camp starts at the end of April, and their season starts in the middle of May. So it’s pretty quick.
“If that doesn’t happen, I could see myself playing in Italy, and I know some of the best leagues are played in Russia. I’m hoping that Tamika can help me with some of the opportunities I can possibly have overseas, too.’’ |

I'm very intrigued by Tyra Buss...In High school she ran Track,Cross Country, and was a Tennis star. She avg 40 minutes per game her Senior season at Indiana.Despite IU losing both games to OSU by 15 points,I thought Tyra held her own against K.Mitchell.Of course, you can't fully judge a players performance solely by the box score.

Isn’t Tamika Catchings still heavily involved with the Fever organization? The thing is the Fever’s lowest draft pick is #14, and that’s probably a little too nice of pick to spend on Buss. She’ll probably get drafted by someone (at #33 with Miller is my top suspect), so relying on a draft invite probably not gonna happen. I’m thinking if the Fever wants Buss badly enough, they may have to trade an asset for a second round pick. Anybody want Gwathmey or McCall badly enough... didn’t think so.

Buss isn't and shouldn't get picked over players like Mavunga, Nared, S. Thomas, Jill Barta, Muldrow, etc.

Does this mean the Chicago Sky might be willing to trade Alaina Coates to the Mystics for a 2019 1st rd pick ?

I would do that trade if I were the Sky. The Mystics aren’t high on the 2019 draft? Overrated?

@ SportsGuru,
The Mystics would be crazy to make that trade.Coates can run the floor and play some defense,at least at the college level. But her offensive game is very limited. She's a backup center at best.K.Thomas will give you just as much,if not more production than A.Coates in 2018...With Meesseman being out for the season, the Mystics making the playoffs or finishing with a top 6 record is no guarantee.Acquiring Coates at the expense of Collier,McCowen,Durr,or Samuelson would be a regrettable decision...If Washington does trade the 2019 pick.It will be for T.Charles...And I agree with shades...Trading Coates for the Mystics 2019 1st rd pick would be a good calculated gamble by Chicago....However,with Chicago having a quality starter at every position.I believe Coates is in a great situation coming off the bench.

I guess you're saying Coates was a wasted 2017 High 1st Rd Selection ? Maybe, Coates is worth a 2nd rd pick in 2019 ?

With roster mostly in place, Dallas Wings can afford to be selective in 2018 WNBA draft
https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/other-sports/wnba/2018/04/10/roster-mostly-place-dallas-wings-can-afford-selective-2018-wnba-draft

Entering the 2018 draft, the Wings, which made the WNBA playoffs for the first time last season, aren't looking to retool the franchise. The Wings return 11 of 12 players from last year's roster and replaced Courtney Paris with Australian standout center Liz Cambage. |

While Dallas can still get a solid player at that six spot, it's unlikely to find an instant starter like 2017 Rookie of the Year Allisha Gray. |
