On the Zag board, one poster had mentioned that Barta considered the team prior to the season being over.

Is there a "leaving" that should be in that sentence?

Actually, it was supposed to be "mooning"

McGuff is augmenting tOSU roster with some grad transfers.

Carly Santaro is a 5-10 G out of Bowling Green who averaged over 12 points per game this past year.
Najah Queenland is a 5-10 G who sat out this past season and will have one season remaining.

NC Central cut quite a few players. The first article says they cut four players, but the second says they cut nine players. Not sure which is correct.

And the coach at the center of it all: Trisha Stafford-Odom.

Some of those players seem more like liabilities than assets. http://nccueaglepride.com/cumestats.aspx?path=wbball&year=2017
I hope she's got a good, or at least large, recruiting class lined up.

First of all, the stats don't tell everything. Secondly this was Staford-Odom's first full season as coach. It was her job to maximize the players potential. Had she given them another year, then maybe things would have turned around. I am not sure what kind of players she thinks she will get. NCCU is in the MEAC conference so she will not get the recruits that she got at her previous stops. After this, she will be lucky to get anyone at all. She better hope she can convince some JUCO players and grand transfers to come there.

Twitter said 9, and there was quite a little sub-discussion. The players cut were really hurt by it but putting on a brave face. I think it's a really s**tty way to treat people, not just basketball players. I was informed that this was not atypical of HBCUs, and that NC Central did not value WBB in the least. However, I stated my above comment about how I felt it was a bad way to treat people in general and that I felt a HBCU should be more aware of that but apparently was not, and that did get some agreement. I don't know that it's going to get Ms. Stafford-Odom, or NC Central, much goodwill.

Mykiel Burleson is leaving New Mexico. 5’11” guard, from Texas. Last year she was preseason MWC freshman of the year, but separate a torn ACL in February 2017. She did make the all-freshman team last year for the MWC. Very hard worker, and super sweet girl.

Alaina Jarnot, 5'7 PG, is transferring to North Dakota from Monmouth College. She will have 2 years of eligibility left after sitting out next season. She's a native of Brooklyn Park, MN.

6'0 F Fallyn Freije is transferring from North Dakota to Montana to play out her remaining year of eligibility as a grad transfer.

Frejie is transferring to Montana State. She doesn't have her degree yet so will set out next season and have one season left in 2019-2020. She was the second leading scorer and rebounder for the Fighting Hawks this past season, who fell in the opening round of the Big Sky Tourney to Montana State. Nest year North Dakota will play in the Summit League.

My bad. I was doing that from memory off a tweet from last night.

First year Illinois State coach Kristen Gillespie has pulled a Trisha Stafford-Odom move, although not quite to the same extent, by “firing” five players, one freshman and four sophomores, not renewing their scholarships for next year. Sophomore Morgan VanHyfte, who sat out this year rehabbing from knee surgery, three other sophomores and a freshman were “informed their scholarships would not be renewed.” But the article makes it sound like a) she’s shifting all the responsibility off onto the staff, and b) they recruited right over these kids. Yuck. https://t.co/HxKE0sQsSy

But NCAA athletes aren't employees, so how come their financial agreements can be terminated?

Once again, the fundamental hypocrisy of the NCAA and its corrupt system jumps to the forefront. Coaches have contracts and buyouts, if they negotiate them; players just tug their forelocks and do what they're told.

How is this different than any other person who is the on the bottom rung?

I work for a company (school) that has VPs, CEO's, etc., (AD's, coaches). They negotiate their contracts and I (player) do what I'm told. As a reward for doing what I'm told, I get some compensation that is put into a financial institution that I rarely ever see (scholarship and other perks). I can be let go (fired for no reason) any time my employer wishes me to be (scholarship not renewed). My work hours (playing time) are at their whim.

It's life. At least life as most of us know it.

It may be. But I was brought up to treat people better than that, and to NOT be deceitful. Both of those bad things were in play in this instance.

If these players had their athletic scholarships pulled because their play wasn't up to expectations (and not because the coach was just being arbitrary), then I don't see any difference from a student having their academic scholarship terminated if their academic performance wasn't up to expectations. Hopefully, in both instances, the students were counseled and given opportunities to correct their deficiencies before the termination.

Iva Ilic, 5’7 G, is leaving Liberty. She’s from Croatia and will have 2 years remaining. No link to a story, merely a rweet with her trainer’s name and number.

Okay, this a pretty big one and it’s not an April Fools joke on my part anyway... but maybe I’m getting taken in by one.

Anriel Howard is looking to transfer as a no-wait graduate player.
Keep your mud hooks off, ND. You’ve gotten enough freebies.

I already checked her age. Too young to declare for the draft and yet she’ll be a grad student.
