So what was the reason the Women's tournament was starting on a Friday? I was going to fill out my bracket when I got home tonight only to see I missed the deadline. Ugh.

It's not about liking.... just surprised is all. Kinda figured you always use an algorithm instead of the eye test.

My homerism helped me maintain a perfect bracket. Thank you, Gophers!

I picked South Dakota State to make the Sweet 16 & Green Bay to win because if I had to live through the embarrassment of the Gophers sucking and all the nearby mid-major schools being Final Four contenders, I wanted to at least have a decent bracket Very Happy.

Brinx is the first round leader at 270, but down a S16

Then there are a dozen at 260; some S16 intact, some down one or two S16s. All are E8 intact.

I'm somehow tied for 27th. My final 4 is still in tact & I have 7 of 8 for the Elite 8 left.

How did awhom do so poorly in the first round and still managed a perfect Sweet 16 round?

This was before the Oregon loss so I think you can root for yourself now. I don't think I can get back to that level even if I am right about the last three games.

The Sweet 16 was easy. Six games were pretty clear chalk. UCLA over Texas was probably either my nod to Shannon Perry or wishful thinking that if Texas loses early enough that I can continue to believe that Gail Goestenkors > Karen Aston there. Picking Oregon State over Tennessee to get to the Sweet 16 was my biggest guess, but I think it was possible to see that coming. Baylor wasn't the same team after Kristy Wallace was injured so picking them to lose wasn't crazy.

I should probably spend more than two minutes making picks.

My misses in the first round:
Miami
Cal
South Dakota State
Oklahoma
LSU
Green Bay
Syracuse
Princeton
Iowa
Missouri

So half of it was my lack of belief in the Big East and my rule that ACC and Pac 12 teams automatically advance one game when possible. I guess I picked the wrong one in the Cal-UVA game. One more pick was wishful thinking hatred of Maryland. I thought that Missouri had enough to beat FGCU even though I knew they were dangerous.
