Possible upset brewing. #11 Loyola-Chicago leading over #3 Tennessee. |
Loyola-Chicago wins by 1!!! Advances to the sweet sixteen!! |
I'm guessing that saying Obama and Sister Jean are happy would be an understatement.
If you have time, you've got to read about this cool woman!

She also can tell you what the Ramblers' RPI was last season, this season, and that maybe it should cease to be a criteria for evaluating tournament-worthy teams.
"We have to advance with time," Sister Jean said. "We have to consider things that the bracketologists don't think about.
Oh, and she has a message for the Ramblers' next opponent. "Tennessee," she said, "watch out." |

Article about Loyola's road to a championship in 1963. Again, if you have time, this is a great article.
Quote: |
But to begin to understand the special journey of the 1963 Loyola of Chicago Ramblers, all that is needed is one picture.
The photo, taken before an NCAA tournament game 50 years ago, shows a black player from Loyola and a white player from Mississippi State shaking hands.
The Mississippi State player is Joe Dan Gold, captain for a team that had to rush out of Starkville just to get to the tournament in East Lansing, Mich., defying a state injunction designed to stop the game. In 1963, teams from Mississippi did not play integrated opponents, even in the Mideast Regional. |

UMBC playing like a #16 seed tonight. But Kansas St. also playing like crap. Not exactly an exciting game. UMBC down 3 in the 2nd half.

had UMBC played like this versus Virginia, they would've gotten blowout. Only shooting 30%. Kansas St. shooting 35%.

UMBC's Cinderella story comes to an end. Scoring only 43 points(30% shooting) vs. Kansas St.

The men's South Region is the first time that none of the top four seeds have made it to the Sweet Sixteen.
When's that ever going to happen in the women's tournament? That 5, 7, 9 and 11 in a single region make the second weekend?

When most of the top WBB recruits go pro after one or two years.
