I'm watching the NEC conf. game and they are saying that the last four in and first four out are going to be announced during the 5:00 telecast.

That's a bit disrespectful to the teams and conferences that are still playing, even if they aren't likely to figure in that discussion.

Because what eight bubble teams need is an extra 24 hours of nail-biting. This is nonsense.

Yeah the tweets I am seeing are not positive about this. To clarify, it is just going to say the 8 under consideration still.

This does add a whole new area of tea leaf reading. Who will be the eight teams mentioned, and how will they put them forward. And what will the eight teams perhaps say about the teams that have actually made the field.
My guess would be alphabetical order. As for who the teams will be, my guess is:
Creighton
Dayton
Miami
Oklahoma
Purdue
Rutgers
USC
West Virginia
Variations from this list could give a hint as to how the Committee views conferences or late season play, and even good wins vs bad losses.

Sorry, I misunderstood what they were saying.
Three Big Ten teams. Wow. They could either come up roses or...not. I can't see them taking all three.
Creme had Nebraska and the committee has Minnesota. I wonder if that means that the committee thinks that Nebraska is a lock for the tourney or no way in hell are they getting in?
Still lots of questions.

I had six of the eight teams correct, with Miami and Dayton on my list instead of Buffalo and Minnesota. Buffalo is reasonable as I had them just above and their resume was quirky RPI 22, but only 2 Top 50 wins). But Minnesota is very surprising, and requires further review. The Gophers have 3 top 25 wins, 2 over Iowa and one over Maryland. They also have a win over Michigan. Their bad losses are vs North Carolina and San Diego. They won 9 of their last 12. This is a solid resume. The one thing that stands out is that their non-conference strength of schedule is 293. That means nothing to me in evaluating the quality of the team. It is already taken into account in evaluating their wins and losses, and they were hurt because their two worst losses came in those games. But the reason the SOS is so low is because the teams they played won on average 1 less game this year than last year, so their schedule became worse than it would have been.

Hey, I’d rather be an underrated #11 seed than a #9 seed. Much better chance of making the Sweet 16.

Based on this list, I believe that Nebraska and Dayton are in. I truly can't see Dayton better than any of the Big 10 or Big 12 teams, but the only other teams that I believe could be considered are Indiana, Virginia Tech, South Dakota, Ball St, Central Florida and TCU. Indiana is a team I like but had written off. But they did have a non-con SOS of 21 so maybe.

Nah. VA Tech and Dayton are both WNIT bound. Pretty sure about that.

On the men’s side, OU and UT both got in even though neither deserved it. In this case, I’d be pretty annoyed if the took Aou over WVU

I don't see how Virginia or Dayton deserve to be in over pretty much any of these 8 teams.
Dayton seems to have the golden halo which blinds the committee to actually looking at their resume. They lost to every good team or semi-good team they played. They beat Virginia ...who shouldn't be in either.

I came back to this thread to remind myself who the last four in were. (Was it just coincidence that they are the first four in alphabetical order?)
Buffalo
Creighton
Minnesota
Oklahoma
How did they do?
Buffalo - W
Creighton - W
Minnesota - W
Oklahoma - L
Interesting.
