With the 2016 Democratic and Republican national conventions both over, this might be a good time to bring up a novelty recording about the 1972 Presidential political conventions: "Convention '72" by The Delegates, a Top-40 hit single in 1972.

It was a "break-in" record, made popular in the late-1950's by Dickie Goodman, wherein an interview would take place, but the answers are done in the form of a song. In this case, however, The Delegates was actually a Pittsburgh radio DJ named Bob DeCarlo, and two other local record executives. It features several hit singles from the early-70's.

Enjoy! Cool

I must be a Dr. Demento fan for thinking that this cover version is better than Rod Stewart's mega-hit single! Razz

She's no Teena Marie. (That was a top 10 song down here though)

1979 disco song by Dennis Parker. Dennis later made his name acting in the TV soap opera The Edge Of Night, as well as porn films during the late-70's and early-80's under the name of Wade Nichols, before he succumbed to AIDS in the late-80's...

Two songs by All-Star baseball player named Ron Cey.

As a singer, he was...well, a pretty good third baseman!

Another big 70's trend was to just add a disco beat to anything. Sometimes it worked (Star Wars theme, Bach, Baby Face). Sometimes...
