Had a feeling that was coming...too bad, I really like Erik. Hopefully he can land on his feet in a top assistant position with a good program.

I was really hoping that Erik Johnson could resurrect BC and bring back the success of the Inglese years.

On a personal level, I wanted him to succeed after having endured the tragedy of losing his son (who was four years old at the time).

Sadly, he managed to keep the program in the basement of the ACC for his entire tenure. BC is sadly misplaced, however, and needs to get outtathere ASAP. They would be an excellent fit in any mid-major conference that plays football, and we'd welcome them in the CAA, where they could be a crosstown rival for Northeastern.

Sorry to hear about his son. Being someone who has also lost a child, I applaud him for talking about the loss - I wish people weren't so afraid to talk about the topic.

His name has been mentioned in the various hot seat threads for the last couple of seasons so this really isn't a surprise. There's some crappy teams in the SEC with a lot of first second and third year coaches and somehow Insell managed to lose to all of them.

SEC is certainly brutal and I imagine Ole Miss is a tougher sell to recruits than say Vanderbilt or Florida (if you’re talking basement dwellers in the league right now).

Who gets the Ole Miss job? Do you look for experience in the league and give a veteran another shot like Amanda Butler or Susie Gardener? Or an up and comer like Carly Thibault? Time to call up a Gillom sister?

Did I not just say, on another thread, that this is the Year of the Wackadoodle?

I'm not sure it's completely wackadoodle. Barron was previously an AC at Baylor and NC State, and HC at Princeton. He took over the Maine women's program after Cindy Blodgett had run it into the ground and turned it around completely. Then he developed severe vertigo, could no longer coach, was eventually diagnosed with a skull fracture involving the inner ear which required a craniotomy to repair. He was out for about a year, and when he was able to return to work, the Athletic Dept gave him a job as a "special asst" to the AD.

Now the men's team coach just quit with a 4-year record of 24-100. UMaine needs somebody who is willing to live there and who can turn a disaster around. Hopefully there are some assistants available who have the right recruiting connections. Kudos to him if he's successful.

What about Johnnie Harris? She has two national title games and one championship under her belt (A&M), and has helped Vic Schaefer get the right players to bring MIssissippi State to prominence...and she’s familiar with Mississippi and the south overall...

You list Monmouth HC as open presumably when Jenny Palmateer was released. Jody Craig took over and I believe she's been promoted from interim head coach to Head Coach.

I hadn't seen anything on their site or in news that announced it, so I didn't really update that as of yet.
