Also probably better to open up more minutes for the rookie (while in this case also adding another one). It's not like they were going to be good with January running the point.

Trade January for the #8 from Phoenix

Assuming Vegas takes Wilson and Indiana takes Mitchell. Are Pokey and co. counting on Wheeler to help transition a rookie through the ropes? Someone, anyone, please tell me you've heard our trading plots aren't all played out.

If a Bonner trade to Indy was going down, I would have thought it would be included in all this mess. Kinda looking like it’s not happening and the couple is dealing with it.

So who should Pokey target now with the #8?

Bpa, you don't pass on Brown or Canada if they are there just because they are guards IMo.

agree best player available

assuming they take K. Mitchell at #1 (who I would start from day 1 even if that seems risky) you're two deep at every spot, and can still use help at every spot

K. Mitchell/Wheeler
S. Johnson/T. Mitchell
Coleman/Pohlen-Mavunga
Dupree/McCall
Larkins/Achonwa

Gwathmey, Hamson, Simms

#8
#14

Wing might be the biggest weak spot so maybe Vivians or Nurse
But best available at any positions still helps

They also have Kayla Alexander. Looks like they’ll have an overloaded training camp, unless more moves are coming.

Doesn’t Larkins play with DeShields in Turkey?

Pohlen's job is most at risk. Fever draft the best avail. at #8(Billings, Nared or Vivians) and that will determine who they take at #14. Hamson & Simms have no shot. Not sure about Gwathmey & McCall either.

K. Mitchell/Wheeler
S. Johnson/T. Mitchell/Pohlen or Gwathmey
Coleman/#8 pick
Dupree/#14 pick or McCall
Larkins/Achonwa/Alexander

This is it. Maybe January could have taught Mitchell some things, but their games are very different. I think you throw Mitchell in and let her learn on the job. The team is in for a rough year, might as well work for the future.

Or Vadeeva. Pokey’s got that Russian connection.

take Mitchell at #2 and Vivians at #8 and Mavunga @ #14

K. Mitchell/Wheeler
S. Johnson/T. Mitchell
Vivians/Coleman/Pohlen-Mavunga
Dupree/Mavunga/McCall (or Achonwa)
Alexander/Larkins

Wow and then you have Achonwa (does she take off for Canada too?), McCall, Gwathmey, Hamson, Simms

or Deshields at #2, Billings at #8 and Scaife at #14

Wheeler/Scaife
S. Johnson/T. Mitchell
Deshields/Coleman/Pohlen-Mavunga
Dupree/Billings/McCall or (Achonwa)
Alexander/Larkins

Just playing around but it looks like someone is going to get Hamson for free (Minny, NY, LA, Seattle, PX, Washington?)

It's interesting ... we all tend to think that "Oh, the overseas thing doesn't mean as much as the WNBA," or "It was just a high school championship," but from the inside, as a coach or player, the work and energy and commitment feel the same, regardless of level or league.

Competitors always want to win, no matter where they are -- which is why you see arguments in pickup games that everyone will have forgotten in an hour, and CYO coaches losing their cool over a sixth grade game.

Congrats to Natalie and her team, and I hope she and all of us remember something I was told early in my career: "If you can't enjoy winning, you don't belong in the game."

If I'm Pokey, I'm taking Stevens. Sky take Mitchell and Williams.

Stevens vs Mitchell

(Also a little depends on the #8 pick)

Wheeler/L. Brown (at #Cool
S. Johnson/T. Mitchell
Coleman/Pohlen-Mavunga or Gwathmey
Dupree/Larkins
Stevens/Alexander/Achonwa

Also have #14, McCall, Hamson

K. Mitchell/Wheeler
S. Johnson/T. Mitchell
Vivians (at #Cool/Coleman
Dupree/Larkins
Alexander/Achonwa/Hamson

Also have #14, McCall, Pohlen-Mavunga, Gwathmey

SG: Johnson/TMitchell/Pohlen-Mavunga
SF: Coleman/Gwathmey
PF: Dupree/Achonwa
C: Larkins/Stevens/Alexander

Suddenly, this Fever "rebuild" looks a lot more short-term.

Indiana's first three picks in the draft should be:

#2-Stevens
#8-Williams,Vivians,Brown,or Canada
#14-Gulich,Russell,or Vadeeva

I was wondering if they take Vadeeva at #14? If she shows up, Anchowa or Alexander get bounced somewhere.

PG: Wheeler/#8 pick
SG: Johnson/TMitchell/Pohlen-Mavunga
SF: Coleman/Gwathmey
PF: Dupree/Larkins
C: Vadeeva/Stevens/Alexander or Anchonwa

Achonwa can make her way to the lynx, would be upgrade over Fagbenle.

Ok I have been convinced I'm guessing Stevens #2, Canada or Brown (#eight) and surprise (#14) pick Nared.

Wheeler/Canada or Brown
S. Johnson/T. Mitchell/Pohlen-Mavunga or Gwathmey
Coleman/Nared
Dupree/Achonwa
Stevens/Larkins/Alexander

So which draft do you like better for Indy

option 1
#2 Stevens #8 L. Brown or Canada #14 Nared

Wheeler/Brown or Canada
S. Johnson/T. Mitchell
Coleman/Nared/Gwathmey or Pohlen-Mavunga
Dupree/Achonwa
Stevens/Larkins/Alexander

or
option 2
#2 Mitchell #8 Vivians (or Nurse) #14 Gulich or Mavunga

K. Mitchell/Wheeler
S. Johnson/T. Mitchell
Vivians or Nurse/Coleman/Pohlen-Mavunga or Gwathmey
Dupree/Achonwa
Larkins/Alexander/Gulich or Mavunga

Obviously there are variables my rosters leaves McCall and Hamson out all together, I avoided the idea of trades, the starters and the bench could be swapped here and there, and the drafts could go slightly different than I projected, but what I attempted to do is draft one post, one wing and one combo guard at one of Indy's 3 top picks addressing the biggest needs starting the ball rolling by choosing one of Mitchell or Stevens at #2 to see overall which direction I think the team should go in with the 2nd pick

So which team do you prefer?

I have to say I prefer the team option that starts with Mitchell at #2, I think it is more exciting offensively, and if Indy did land in the lottery and drafted K. Brown or McCowan n 19 Indy future is very bright.

The Stevens option doesn't excite m as much, but I do like the pick up of Brown or Canada as the second first round pick to solve the PG spot going forward.

Spoon, I lean towards option 2, tho' the number 8 pick could be different than VV or Nurse--could be a post as well since there will probably be a surprise or two in the earlier selections. I agree with your point about next years posts and their probable lottery pick. One pick they could make in the second round is Wallace out of Baylor. Won't play this year, but if she recovers completely from her ACL injury, she could pair nicely with KM in the backcourt, heightwise. That way, KM could play more as a SG on offense.

If Pokey takes Mitchell at #2, I see her grabbing Vadeeva at #8. If she drafts Stevens at #2, then whoever from Canada, Brow or Nurse is available.
