ACES SCOUTING REPORT
“Kelsey Mitchell is a natural scorer with a potent combination of strength, quickness, and body control. She excels at getting into the lane, and making plays for herself and others, and is a terrific ball-handler.” |

She's a grad student, not a RS junior.
How'd he miss Kenisha Bell? I'd rate her a second rounder.

Seems weird to nominate a player for Phoenix who plays the only position we've already got covered for a while by a legit star.

Maybe the thinking is that Brondello having no clue how to use rookies will be less of an issue if the player isn't actually there.
More seriously, I think people see Phoenix as an easy slot for Vadeeva because of Brondello/Lange's links to Russia. But yeah, Griner/Vadeeva as a frontcourt would require some awkward contortions to make work. |

Not once but twice. While not trying to fill the forward slot that would seem to be a bigger issue for the future.

Getting Goodwin at #27 would make up for that pick.

If you buy the premise that Russell is still around at 16 even I would think she's a good pick for the Dream. And Nared is shown as going 15 - how hard would it be to make a deal with the Sun to get Nared in exchange for 16+a bag chips or something. Sun don't really need Nared anyway. Dream always seem to take an LV (or similarly local) player in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
I kind of doubt either Nared or Russell will fall that far.

Victoria Vivians stock is rising so high that i'm starting to wonder if Chicago would draft her instead of Deshields? im just puttin that out there because she is playing like a top 5 pick.
i could see her go now to Chicago, Dallas, or Washington. she aint lasting to 10 lol i would be surprised

Why would you need twin towers? They strike me as very similar players, with Russell having the edge offensively and McGee having the edge defensively.

How many bags of chips do you have left over there? You don’t own Ajavon and you let Young (a probable starter for Laimbeer) walk away for free.

What do they need besides maybe a less arrogant coach pretending to “build a culture”? I think the real culture building left when Collen left the building.

Wasn’t that all in the Cooper era?

Russell (or both really) seems to have checked out early at Tennessee, but if she has a big game in NCAAs, her stock should bounce back. Not many viable bigs to choose from in this draft. Whatever made Russell the #1 prospect out of high school according to ESPN is probably still in there. You just need to find the right coach to bring it out.
It’s hard to see that many teams that could use her kind of size passing on her:
SEA, DAL, WAS, PHX (practice player for Griner. She literally loves her LV’s), MIN, LVA (Laimbeer loves bigs. He had 4 college centers for his post rotation in NYL), IND (Pokey would pass on her at #14? No team needs height more than they do).

Shades - Dream have been going for "local" talent as throwaway picks since the days or MM (see Briggitte ANdrossi) and Fred (Marie Armstong). For the same reason, Greenwell might end up with the Dream.
As for Russell and Nared, maybe these LV players kind of get a pass because the team/coaching situation seems fraught with question marks. However, about the only LV player (post Parker) to exceed expectation is Johnson so may be not. I just don't see Russell falling out of the first round, and doubt Nared is available at 16, but if she is I think Dream would take her. I could see NY or MN picking up Russell.
Dream do need a back up center too in order to fill Morello's seat. However, the only backups for Angel are Hayes and Sykes.

Wow, he really hit a nerve with that "basement" comment, didn't he? Fortunetely, he's a good enough coach to overcome rebkell's disgust.
