because Bird is such a premier defender. Look what she did against NY with starters, or what she did against LA, Minnesota, or even Atlanta. Again, you’re cherry picking. Bottom line is, she sucked. |
Not very optimistic about Plum's future, are you ?...I believe Plum's ankle injury, along with having a first year coach played a huge factor in Plums slow start.VJ gave Plum no rope. She started games where she only played 4,5,6,and 8 minutes. That's no way to treat a #1 draft pick.Plum wasn't allowed to play through her mistakes until Jefferson got injured.....Plum will just have to prove her detractors wrong.

If Kayla McBride is officially signed, could we get an official news release on it?
I’m linking to all the league signings. McBride and Dolson are the only players in the league where I couldn’t find their signings as official WNBA.com news releases.

You mean a player should be allowed to suck until she doesn't as this is the world she lived in since she was in high school. She never had any real accountability. Its a big bad world out there

So right now the Aces are looking like
Jefferson/Plum
McBride/Murphy/Holmes
Young/Burdick/Coffee
Wilson/Hamby
Harrison/Bone/Swords
They should take Greenwell, Scaife, or Atkins at #13. Then the final roster would look something like. This is a team that has a chance to make a big leap.
Jefferson/Plum
McBride/#13/Murphy
Young/Burdick
Wilson/Hamby
Harrison/Bone/Swords

Maybe she didn't have a pile of other offers, but I'd have thought it'd be a bit awkward going from head coach to assistant coach of the same team. |

I kinda suspect she was more comfortable as an asst. And she is a classy lady so I doubt there's a problem.

I’m not sure why they keep referring to “building a franchise from the ground up”. It’s not an expansion team. It’s an already existing franchise being moved.

I don't think much of "Business Operations" are retained when they move a team. In fact, I have a feeling they start with a clean slate.
Laimbeer is president of "Basketball Operations", which could have potentially remained the same, but I don't think they retained any of the "Basketball Operations" Stars staff and left it to him to staff, the same as if it was a new franchise. But it isn't like a new franchise with regard to the players.

The building of the franchise refers more to the business side than the basketball side. The team is in place, but we are starting from scratch in terms of everything from ordering basketballs to building a practice facility.

Aces have re-signed Sequoia Holmes & Cierra Burdick and have signed Ivey Slaughter to a training camp contract.

Kayla McBride was just re-signed to a multi-year deal. This leaves only Sydney Colson unsigned.

So ATM
Plum/Jefferson
McBride/Holmes
Young/Burdick
Wilson (#1)/Harrison
Bone/Swords
2 of Dos Santos, Coffey, Hamby, #13 and possibly Colson
I wonder if LV might try to package two of those asses for something else?
Still not convinced trader Bill keeps both Plum and Jefferson but Jefferson still being hurt lowers her trade value and leaves LV with only Plum at PG at least until they re-sign Colson.
Also I'm not sure Burdick is a definite keeper, but I'm guessing Laimbeer regrets cuting her in NY last year and she has a leg up on the competition becuase she already knows his style of play. I'm not convinced Holmes is safe either but she is a big guard, and the guard spot is really thin.
I think Dos Santos will work well with Laimbeer which pretty much makes Coffey and Hamby expendable.
