I expected Blockton and Hoppie to get POY and Frosh POY. But the COY puzzles me a bit. Marquette was picked to win the BE so why does Kieger get the award for doing what they're supposed to do and maybe doing a little worse than expected since they shared the BE title? And I read Villanova was picked to finish 3rd in the BE which is right where they finished.

Oh well - there's a reason I don't pick the awards Smile. I am happy Blockton got POY - figured she would but you never know. And it's nice to see Davenport and Wilborn honored also.

surprised that one of the Creightonites didn't make first team.

For instance, can you tell me one thing Mart'e Grays did better than J. Agnew?

Also notable: only one senior on the top two teams.

Actually Grays and Agnew have pretty similar percentages in terms of field goal and puts per game. I would have both as first team and probably take off White or Schickel. JMO.

Good call on the lack of seniors on the top two teams. Lots of talent returning in the Big East.

ReCOY: If not them who? The conference went according to form.

I would have also left Shickel off in favor of Agnew.

I actually would have voted for Bruno at DePaul. Obviously I'm a fan of Kieger but I was just not expecting her to get a COY honor this year.

I wonder sometimes how much preseason honors come into play when it comes to the end of the year honors - Schickel was a preseason BE honoree but Agnew wasn't. Of course being a preseason honoree doesn't mean an automatic award - Hiedeman was a preseason BE honoree but didn't get any awards today - no issues with that as she has had a pretty inconsistent season.

Sometimes I wonder why they do a preseason Frosh of the Year - seems like such a shot in the dark.

I have no problem with Schickel as a first-teamer. She's pretty much the only reason Butler did anything this year.

That being said, I was spectacularly unimpressed with half the all-conference players when they played at St. John's, and why the hell is there no love anywhere for JaQuan Jackson?
