What the heck is it with some of these coaches and their stilettos? It seems to me those things would damage the floor, yet they prance around on them right on the floor with seemingly NO concern for the surface. (Just as an aside, some of them look like hell in them, because some of the former players, especially the tall ones, are very bowlegged.) I note that not all the female coaches wear them, but the ones that do, really tromp around all over the floor in them. What the heck, y'all?

agree. most venues make a big deal about anybody going on the floor unless they're wearing tenny's. How then is it ok for these monstrously inappropriate shoes to mess up the floor surface? Plus, think of all the foot problems they will aggravate later in life.

SLIPPERS FOR ALL!

I think it's an intimidation factor. It's a way to get taller and make more noise. I remember watching one coach actually test the acoustics of the floor when she was visiting.

Imagine some of them stomping their feet while wearing those high-heels, especially when they get upset about something. I seem to remember Kim Mulkey and former Fresno State coach Stacy Johnson-Klein used to bang on that floor during games.

I would imagine Oklahoma's Sherri Coale has worn out more than a few stilettos over the years. (see below) Wink

re: Oklahoma-- The Sooner Stilettos, 160 strong, offer mentoring opportunities for the basketball women and according to Coale,”have a huge impact on their futures.”

I agree with you wholeheartedly, but nobody's answered the questions, and maybe there isn't an answer. The main one was about damage to the floors. The other was, can't they see how they look, especially the ones who are really bowlegged? (One of the JMU ACs, the smallest one, doesn't wear them, and she is so darn cute standing next to the guy who coaches the post players who is 6'9 LOL)

As someone who has mopped way too many gym floors, I can say that the stilettos will not damage the floor, nor will any hard-soled shoe -- unless you go out and play with them on.

The stiletto heel will break long before the hardwood floor sustains any damage.
