I think some might underestimate how much some of these players don't necessarily care as much about winning as opposed to other things like location, being near family, playing with a close friend, getting playing time, being comfortable with the franchise and coaching staff, money, etc..
It's relatively easy to sell players like Perkins and Pierson due to their ages at the time they joined the Lynx, someone like Shenise Johnson (who is still in her prime and can prove she's a consistent above average starter), playing back-up might not appeal even if it's for an almost 95% chance at a ring.._________________

No, she did get Kizer. |
Kizer was a good pickup.

That makes an assumption that Reeve was going for people she didn't get. Personally, I would wait until I see what she has going into camp before drawing conclusions. Our list of people she should target might be utterly different from what she wants. For instance, I have a feeling defense might be the biggest factor in who she signs. Perhaps someone like Tanisha Wright.
I find it highly unlikely players don't want to play for Reeve. She has never had an issue in the past and there is no reason to assume it would suddenly become one. Especially since in the past the opposite has proven true.

Johnson wasn't going to be ready for season start so there was no point in the Lynx going after her. They were interested in Cappie but not getting her could have as much to do with her wanting a bigger role as any failure on the Lynx's part. It's really less than two weeks into free agency so they have plenty of time to come up with alternatives.

The Atlanta Dream have signed forward Adaora Elonu to a training camp contract

Quote: |
“I coached against her in the NCAA tournament and have followed her professional career closely ever since,” Collen added. “She is ready to compete for spot in this league.”
Since going undrafted in 2012, the 6’1” Elonu has also played professionally for Galil Eliol (Israel), Beroil-Ciudad de Burgos (Spain) and CB Conquero (Spain). Last season, she participated in training camp with the Connecticut Sun. |

Good signing. Collen seems to be firing on all cylinders.
ATL is a team that usually divulges whether a contract is multi-year, and they don’t say that in this release. So most likely it’s a one year contract, and then after this year she’ll have her four years in.

The Liberty have done nothing during this free agency period. Lynx have at least brought in Kizer(replacing Pierson) & Storm have brought in Paris(replacing Swords). Liberty are currently the same team from 2017.

While she would seem to be the perfect answer for the Lynx, I have to wonder about her knee as it seemed to have several setbacks. She only ever played 98 minutes for the Storm and then had to leave her Australian team because of it. While what she did was admirable, I have a suspicion that she might not have been 100% last season anyway.

The last time Monica Wright was an even moderately meaningful WNBA player was in 2014. No one's going to be counting on her for anything. Could probably get a training camp contract somewhere if she wants to come in and try to prove herself. |

Where did she go? I don't see her name on the WNBA Transactions page.

The Liberty just haven't re-signed her. Maybe she opts to sit out this season to train with the Canadian national team for the World Championship?
