Yeah, I was side-eyeing that too. Peppers are many things, many of those drug-related, but I would not qualify them as grunge.

That's probably why they got my vote. They're a little bit funky.
Never was a real grunge fan considering it coincided with the golden era of rap, but I didn't mind the occasional dose of Soundgarden.

I think you have to be from the Northwest to be considered “grunge” or at least that was the birthplace of it.

Wiki describes Red Hot Chili Peppers as a funk rock band from Los Angeles.

People hold Nirvana in great reverence because of Cobain and Dave Grohl. I like them and I like Pearl Jam. I don’t really need to choose between them. Smile

If Green Day and Blink 182 are considered a grunge garage band, they are WAAAAAY better than any of the options you listed. But I’m not sure they’re considered grunge, I think they’re more considered punk rock

Green Day and Blink 182 are more Pop-Rock than grunge. Personal opinion, the grunge sounds was basically the Seattle bands of my high school days---89-93 with some carryover into 94-96. The rest of the country tried to copycat, hence you get bands like Green Day and Blink 182.

I like every band in the poll.

I also have to object to Nirvana being represented by a cover song. They have plenty of worthy originals.
