Really tough to predict this one. WVU seems to be floundering lately so it has to favor Texas...but home court counts for something so who knows. It seems like WVU maybe was just playing to 'hold the line' until Tynice came back and then the air went out when they learned she wouldn't be back.

This is a big game for WVU. I'm just not sure whether they are good enough to win. The Mountaineers are only 4-5 since January 1, and the best team they've beaten is Kansas St. Usually the Big 12 benefits from uniform quality that lifts teams in the RPI as the season goes on. This season the league currently has only two top teams. Oklahoma is third at roughly 30, but the team is only a game over .500. West Virginia could fall close to, or even out of the top 50 with a loss. TCU is on the edge of the top 50 and Oklahoma St is still outside. This is important because if the teams stay out of the top 50, all the other teams can't get the top 50 wins that impress the selection committee.

No. 6 Texas Women's Basketball powers past West Virginia, 73-55

Junior Jatarie White notched her second career double-double after registering 18 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Audrey-Ann Caron-Goudreau scored nine points, had 10 rebounds and three blocks. Senior Ariel Atkins was 3-for-4 in three-pointers and tallied 17 points, including 13 in the critical fourth quarter. http://texassports.com/news/2018/2/5/no-6-womens-basketball-powers-through-west-virginia-73-55.aspx

Can someone explain to me the hype about WVU? I haven't understood why they've been ranked so highly all year.

I think they're ranking was anticipating Tynice Martin being with the team this year vs her redshirting . She is the reigning Big 12 Tourney MVP .
