Wow - St. John’s is up big on Butler leading 34-10 with a little less than 5 minutes to go in the second quarter.

And then you have the Seton Hall-Xavier game where there hasn’t been much scoring so far - 13-12 Seton Hall with 6:50 to go in the half.

Well, that escalated quickly. 45-15 at halftime. I approve.

It’s the doghouse starting lineup for Marquette - Blockton and Hiedemann didn’t start and Davenport is in sweats Sad.

So Queenie, let me understand this. The Johnnies lose 3 games by 21 points total, and now they lead by 30 (61-31) in the 4th qtr. Couldn't they have used a few of those points against Providence? Or Seton Hall? Or Creighton? Well, hopefully they are back on track.

One would think, though I'm told you can't bank points from one game to another. Shame. I'd have loved to save that Shamachya Duncan three off the window at the shot clock buzzer for a more dramatic moment.

Just the type of game Marquette needs as they lead 63-32 halfway through the third quarter. Sophomore Izzy Soingola is leading the way with a career high 22 points so far - she has six three pointers.

And in tonight's edition of "welcome to amateur hour", the scorekeeper at St. John's did not correctly reset the team foul count between the third and fourth quarters, which I think led to Butler getting two extra foul shots. I mean, I shouldn't begrudge them, we doubled them up, but I thought I lost my damn mind when I was counting fouls on my personal scoresheet.

Glad it happened in a blowout game for St. John's.

Now I get to be anxious until pre-game tomorrow wondering if Erika Davenport will be available. Marquette could get by fine against Providence without her but her absence would make a much bigger impact against Creighton. And hopefully Blockton and Hiedeman worked their way out of the doghouse and are back in the starting lineup Sunday also. I wouldn't mind a repeat of Izzy Spingola's 9-12 shooting including 7-10 from 3 point range Smile but I doubt that will happen. And her defense is suspect - not sure she'll be able to put in 25 minutes again.
